On September 14, 1881, shotgun messenger Benjamin Colleyville established the first Sheriff's Department in Texas with three deputies. On November 7, 1886, the name of the department was changed to The Texas Rangers. In 1912, a new building for sheriff's office and jail were built in Colleyville. In 1934, the Texas Ranger School was opened in Colleyville. The present structure for the sheriff's office and jail was completed in 1967.
There is no doubt that Colleyville, Texas is a unique place. The city was founded in 1881 by John H. Colley and his family, who are still considered to be its early settlers. Today, the city has a population of over 100,000 people and is known for its beautiful architecture and historical landmarks. The history of Colleyville goes back to when it was part of the Mexican land grant Rancho El Paso de Tejas. In 1836, General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered all Mexicans living within five miles of San Antonio to leave the area or face execution. This order caused many Texans to flee Mexico City for fear that they would be executed as well. John H. Colley decided to stay in Mexico City and continue trading goods with his friends in Texas. He also built a printing press in Mexico City so he could publish newspapers there. In 1881, John H. Colley moved his family to Colleyville following the death of his father-in-law Tom Fenton (the namesake of Fenton County). The family continued to live in the city until their death in 1918. At that time, Colleyville had a population of just under 2,000 people and was primarily an agricultural town’s worth its salt because it produced corn and cotton crops for local markets. However, during World War II, the city experienced significant growth due to wartime demand for munitions production from nearby Fort Worth and other cities Bombardment raids were conducted throughout downtown areas; however no human casualties were reported

The Colleyville Post office was established in 1881, and the first school was built in 1886. By 1907, the population of Colleyville had grown to over 1,500 residents. In 1916 Colleyville became a city and experienced its first prosperity when it boomtown development began. However, by the early 1920s economic conditions had deteriorated and business opportunities were scarce. In 1930 Colleyville lost its status as a city and declined to become part of the new Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Its remaining residents gradually abandoned their community until it ceased to exist as an inhabited place altogether in 2006. Today, remnants ofColleyville can be found scattered throughout Tarrant County near Fort Worth and Arlington Heights; these include homes from the post office days as well as businesses that still operate today such as a grocery store and barbershop located on Main Street within walking distance of both Fort Worth Methodist Church (founded 1865) and Arlington Heights Cemetery (opened 1911). Two small churches remain active: First Baptist Church on Neches Avenue West adjacent to Fort Worth High School (opened 1889), while Second Baptist Church is located on Elm Street just outside of Arlington Heights Cemetery close to where Confederate General Robert E Lee died during battle around April 9th 1865 at the age of 54 years old - one day before he surrendered at Appomattox Court House following Confederate surrender at Bennett's Plantation estate northeast of Richmond Virginia
The community of Colleyville, Texas was founded in 1881 by James A. Colley and his family. The town became a stop on the Santa Fe Railway, and later a center for cattle ranching. In the 1920s, Colleyville was home to the largest aluminum plant in the United States. In 1970, the city merged with Dallas to form a new metropolitan area known as Dallas-Fort Worth.
