When the town of Colleyville, Texas was founded in 1881, it was a small farming community with a population of under 100. The twelve-acre piece of land which would later become the town center was purchased by J.W. Denton and W.H. Slaughter from David Potter for $1,000. The new settlers were soon able to build their homes and businesses on the property, and within a few years Colleyville had gained its own post office, banks, stores, and Masonic Lodge. The early settlers were mainly cowboys and farmers who depended on their horses and cattle for transport to work or to bring home milk from distant farms. This law led to increasing violence and crime in the town. In 1927, another law was passed that limited handgun ownership to persons over 21 years old with a valid hunting license or owning two handguns at least 10 months old). This law led to increased violence and crime as well, as people began buying automatic weapons rather than just handguns. 2) It is also interesting to note that Colt Firearms (makers of Colts rifles) made their first foray into handgun manufacturing with the Model 1903 Springfield rifle back in 1892
Colleyville is located in Hill County, Texas, on the banks of the Trinity River. The population was 9,813 at the 2010 census. As of the 2010 census, Colleyville had a racial makeup that was 94% white and 6% black. Hispanic or Latinos make up 1% of Colleyville's population. The town began as a small agricultural community in 1873 when cattle were brought overland from Mexico by wagon train travelers. By 1880, Colleyville had a post office, school and Baptist church. In 1893, local farmer John Fenton built what is now called Fenton's Mill on top of an old millwheel used for grinding corn to make flour. The first store opened in 1898 and by 1907 there were three stores and two churches in Colleyville. In 1915-16*, during World War I*, ranches south of town were requisitioned for military use and many people left their homes; however, most returned after the war ended. Later that decade saw growth with the opening of a railroad station and Telephone Service Company building which still stands today (it has been remodeled). Another important milestone for Colleyville came in 1926 when it became part ofBird Lake Consolidated School District #1A which included Bird Lake Village as well as most of Bird Lake Township (northwest corner). Today much progress has been made since then with new buildings being erected such asColleyville High School* (opened in September 2006), Fillmore Middle School* (opened in February 2009),and Creekview Baptist Church* (built in October 2011). One popular event annually held within town is "Fiesta" where Parade Day features music and crafts from local businesses along with family fun activities like watermelon eating contests open to all ages!

Colleyville is a small town in Vernon County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The Colleyville community was founded by Methodist missionaries in 1881. The name comes from General James K. Polk's home county, Virginia (from which Polk took his namesake). The first post office opened in 1880, and the first store was built in 1882. In 1886, the town had two churches and twelve residents; it had a school from 1887 to 1913 and a water tower from 1907 to 1917. In 1916, Colleyville became an independent municipality under state law; it voted to become a city on November 3 that year. On December 5 of that year, the city council accepted annexation into Austin by vote of 2–1%. A cotton mill located on Highway 6 near present-day Colleyville started operations in 1865 as J & A Mills; it continued production until 1971 when it closed because of World War II bombing restrictions placed on Texaco oil refineries in those days. After years of debate over what to do with the mill site - including plans for housing development or reuse - City Council decided on April 8, 2006 to sell the mill property to USAA Federal Credit Union for $2 million cash and create housing developments adjacent thereto while also allowing access to use of both land and building space within limits for use by other entities such as local businesses or schools if desired (it would have been unable to open its doors without government approval). The sale went through successfully without any opposition from within Colleyville itself. According as date announced: "It's exciting news for all involved: We've been working hard for years toward this day - now our dreams can come true." On October 16th 2007 Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones came out with an offer of $250 million dollars for the old J&A Mill site which he said would be used as training fields for future NFL franchises
The town of Colleyville was founded in 1879 by my great-grandfather, James Colley. The first post office in the town was opened in 1881. In 1916, the community developed a water tower and began to provide electric service. In 1929, the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce organized a football team which played its first game against Paint Rock High School.
