On November 30, 1975, Mayor George Dickey dedicated the new Main Street Library which replaced the old library which burned down two years earlier. The original main library building had been built in 1893 and was located on Second Avenue near Interstate 35W; it had been destroyed by fire in 1951 according to City records). On October 4th of every year since 1977 (except 1986), firefighters from all over Dallas come to Colleyville for "CITY DAY" where they parade around the Main Street square bearing their colors before sitting down at one of several restaurants inside the city limits for dinner
Colleyville, Texas is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The Colleyville post office opened on October 9, 1872, and closed on February 15, 1970. The town was named for General John A. Colley (1834-1911), who served as commander of Union forces during the American Civil War and as governor ofTX from 1865 to 1867. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 535 people, 197 households, and 158 families residing in the town. The population density was 25 people per square mile (10/km²). There were 208 housing units at an average density of 11 per square mile (4/km²).
