Over time, support for TAMU grew beyond just Texan citizens; foreign students also flocked to Tamaulipas State Teachers Colleges via USO internships during World War II while military bases were located nearby like Fort Worth Army Air Field and Lackland Air Force Base - all leading to increased enrollment at TAMU during that era.
