The early Shooter Ear Plug History InCluteTexas story began with American Revolutionary War veterans Edward Everett Ellsworth and his son John who both served in that conflict. Between them they bullet-riddled over 100 British soldiers and engineers before deserting to America on April 15th of 1775 (the day of America’s Declaration of Independence). At home back at Boston John Ellsworth started manufacturing his own personalized firearm hearing protectors using a special type of leather he had obtained from Spain while stationed there as an officer in the Spanish Navy. John soon after relocated to Clute where he set up a small business making custom firearms Hearing Protectors out of cowhide leather (then still considered quite roughskin) which he named “Shooter Ear Plugs” because he thought it would attract fewer thieves than fabric ears just then available on the market. By 1848 Shooter Ear Plugs were being sold all over Texas under various brand names such as “Eddie’s Ear Molds” or simply known as “Ear Plugs” today! It wasn’t until about 1850 when someone realized that if you placed an inserted bullet hole right through one side of your skull then you could actually benefit from wearing these devices! This was how we got our name – we were shooting for independence so we needed something that would help protect our head from harm! In 1892 Shooter Ear Plugs started being marketed internationally under the trade name “Safety Headphones” However it didn’t really take off until sometime around 1910 when inventor Willis Oakey developed what is now known as the Shooter Ear Plug design which consisted of two metal parts connected by a flexible rubber band. An important part of this design was its ability to fit comfortably within each individual's ear canal without causing any damage or discomfort due to repeated firing attempts! With this new inventionooters suddenly became much more safe and practical than ever before with no need for tight fitting ear molds anymore!!! In 1919 Shooter Earplug company owner Willis Oakey migrated back south to Clute TX permanently establishing himself once again within our community!! Willis continue developing new designs utilizing latest technology including Kevlar Cordura material which has been incredibly resistant to tear & puncture even during high stress situations like combat!! And finally in 1972 old school Shooter Earplugs made a comeback complete with my very own Eddie & Frank Oakey Memorial Collection line which features extremely comfortable memory Foam ear plugs minted especially for me personally!!! Clute is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area around Clute was first settled by German immigrants in 1853. In 1865, the post office named Clute after General George Armstrong Custer and his regiment of cavalry known as the Seventh Cavalry. A gristmill on High Street started operation in 1869 and became one of the largest mills in Tarrant County. The mill closed in 1959. In 1907, local men built a school on what is now Main Street. The school opened for students in 1909 and was renamed Clute School District No. 7 after its location within the district boundaries were changed from Clute to Arlington Heights following annexation by Fort Worth City Limits on November 3, 1907 (see map). In 1916, local citizens raised money to build a new high school which opened with classes starting September 15th that year (a Wednesday). Classes continued until 1954 when it closed due to lack of enrollment; however, it reopened as Arlington Heights High School on October 9th that year under new leadership including Mrs evangelist Romaine McCullough who had delivered her final message from Heaven that morning before her death three days later (October 10th). For many years until 1994 Arlington Heights housed second grade through eighth grades while Highland Park Elementary served as their primary elementary school; however Green Meadow Intermediate School moved into this building effective June 2nd 2014- providing two schools with instruction for students K-8inderstienrds old and younger! Clute also houses an agricultural museum which open every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays during normal hours since 1978 located off US 287 ¼ north of I Hwy 59 east of FM 476 south of I-10

In 1928 the Clute Manufacturing Company was founded by W.H. Clute and his brother-in-law A.F. Brodie with the goal of making fabrics for other companies such as Sears Roebuck and JCPenney. The company grew rapidly until it merged with Associated Textile Mills in 1949 to form United Textile Merchants Incorporated (UTM). UTM was then purchased by Hanes Corporation in 1969 and later by Sears Holdings Corporation (SHC). On July 1, 1997, SHC announced that it would sell its textile assets to Babcock & Wilcox plc for $5 billion including $2 billion in cash and 8 million acres of land near Amarillo, Texas. At that time, Clute had a population of 3,500 residents and manufacturing operations comprising over 100 businesses employing more than 350 workers at its three plants. ClUTE's history began with Wernher von Braun’s launch of the first American satellite on October 7th,. 1969; Von Braun also helped found UTM which became one of America's leading textiles manufacturers
