When Cleburne, Texas was first settled in the 1800s, many of its residents were farmers. One of the most important things these farmers did was to provide firearms for their own protection and that of their families. The two main types of firearms they used were pistols and rifles. The Cleburne Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1887. It became the Cleburne Gun Club in 1903. The club made its first appearance at the local fair in 1886, before moving to the town square in 1889. In 1903, the club moved to its current location on McCullough Street.
Cleburne is a small town in far southwestern Texas, United States. It is the namesake of the Cleburne County Courthouse and many other local landmarks. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. The first inhabitants of what is now Cleburne County were the Caddo Indians. In 1836, when Mexico won its independence from Spain, General Antonio López de Santa Anna issued an order that all Native Americans in Texas be mustered into military service or face execution. Fewer than a hundred people complied, and most of these men and women went to live on Long Island (now Nassau) in New York City. Among these Indian survivors was John Fenton Cleburne, who had been living among them on Long Island since 1821. When Mexican troops invaded Texas in 1846, Cleburne decided to fight for Mexico instead of seek refuge with his friends on Long Island. He enlisted as a Private in the 1st battalion of infantry Regiment Élite under Captain José Cruz Valdez and fought against American forces at Palo Alto before being captured by American forces near Brownsville two months later. He was eventually paroled and returned to Mexico where he married his second wife Therese Castro before returning to America in 1849 aboard the USS President George Washington which arrived at Galveston Bay on October 25th that year. When land grants were created within Travis County following Mexican independence, one of those grants went to John Fenton Cline Sr., also known as JFC or simply "JF." In 1850 while grazing land southeast of present-day Cleburne he discovered coal seams grading between 12% and 15% silver content which led him to found what would become Cline Coal Company in 1863 after investing $5,000 worth of stock in it. The company became successful enough that JFC built a large mill complex along Clear Fork Creek north of present-day Cleburne with blast furnaces capable producing 500 tons/hour (equivalent to about 2 million pounds/hour today). Over time BSEE Dragoon & Houston Railroad constructed several branches intoCleburne from nearby towns such as San Marcos until 1966 when all streetcar service ended because OFDOT electrified the area including all but one streetcar line serving downtown Dallas (the last streetcar ran on December 31st 1954). All streetcar lines have been replaced by bus service today including #9 which runs along US 75 from downtown Dallas out towards Fair Park every half hour northbound during morning rush hours only; southbound during evening rush hours only A few miles west northeast of downtown Cline Station lies Pecos River Canyon State Park which offers hiking opportunities as well as swimming opportunities located just downstream from Cliff House Rapids Dam across Pecos River from upstream access dam ruins accessible via hike or canoeing kayaking below rapids upriver beyond Cliff House Rapids Dam parking lot picnic tables open 9am-4pm daily except high school soccer games played late afternoon/early evening

Cleburne, Texas is a city in the Edwards Plateau region of the United States. The population was 867 at the 2010 census, making it the smallest city in Texas. It is located on U.S. Route 69 about 20 miles (32 km) east of Austin and 30 miles (48 km) west of Dallas. The area that became Cleburne was first settled by Anglo-Americans in 1836 as part of the Kansas Territory and remained so until after its admission to the Union as Texas in 1845. The town site was chosen because it offered fertile land and access to water resources needed for early settlers, who were mostly farmers and cattle ranchers. A post office called Cleburne was established in 1837, but no residents moved there until 1840 when John Hogg built a cabin here and began trading goods with surrounding Mexican villages. In 1841, two men, Wm. Denton and James Fenton purchased land from José Antonio Paredes for $5 per acre ($101 million today). They started a farmstead here which soon grew into a large ranch operation with over 100 head of cattle and 400 horses before annexation by Dallas in 1850 led to increased trade between Cleburne andDallas; this madeCleveland more important than Cleburne as an agricultural center." Cleburne experienced significant growth during World War II due to demand for military supplies brought about by both Nazi Germany and Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941; production at local munitions plants peaked at 11% of America's entire output that year just prior to war rationing beginning on April 15th 1942 effective January 1st 1943 reducing output even further causing many businesses closures including those involved in agriculture such as Hogg's Store & Grain Co.; however despite these difficulties production did continue "to grow rapidly" afterwards reaching 129% of pre-war levels by 1945 although still below American average." In 1946 efforts commenced to rename Cleveland Municipal Airport CLEBURNE afterCleburne resident George Ellington who had played an instrumental role in helping bring air service to Cleveland through his donations of surplus equipment; this campaign resulted in successful voter turnout resulting in CLEBURNE becoming operational on October 3rd 1946." On October 25th 1957 Mayor David Yarborough announced plans for development aroundCLEBURNE airport leading up to its dedication ceremonies which took place six days lateron November 4th 1957 which also sawthe opening ofCLEBURNE railroad station following earlier negotiations between CLEBURNE businessmen Jock Reuter & Willard Kaylor Sr.; this station served as both terminal/service area for CLEBURNE airport as well as access point for travelers travelling northbound or southbound from Dallas until they reached CLEBURENE railway station whence they could continue their journey northward or southward." By 1963 all traffic had been redirected away fromCLEburne airport following damage done during an uncontrolled storm on August 14th 1961 which caused extensive power outages throughout downtownCLEBURne leaving only terminal building open with limited services;" however due primarily toynumerous tourist flights originating from CLEBURNEYairport" rail service resumed operationsin late 1963 providing transportation withinCLEBUENEcity limits back untoDallas;" subsequentlyHogg's Store & Grain reopened permanentlyin 1967 having closed several years earlierduring the previous regimeof Mayor John Connally.") Cleburne was founded in 1836 by James Cleburne and his father, John. The town grew and prospered under the leadership of James Cleburne and later his son, Benjamin. In 1871, the Texas Legislature passed a bill that established a government-owned cotton gin in Cleburne to increase its production. The cotton gin became an important factor in the growth of Cleburne and other surrounding towns. In 1937, the city of Cleburne was renamed Austin in honor of then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
