This assumption was not correct; however, because of this initial discovery approximately 80% of all cattle grazing on inland Texas were likely sourced from herds grazed by Spanish Mission Indians at Bexar County’s present day sites including San Antonio de Bexar (now part of El Paso County). In 1824 General Sam Houston’s army discovered oil well near Georgetown while campaigning against Mexican forces at Alamo Heights; this event helped spur Houston’s quest for independence from Spain and led to his famous speech “Houston! Houston! What can you give us? A piece of land? A cannonball? No! We want independence: we want Texas!” Soon afterindependence was won many Texans decided they wanted their own county which would include parts of what are now El Paso and Tarrant counties. On January 6, 1828 Humble Oil Company founder James Fenton organized a meeting at which he proposed creating an independent government for “the People who Live On The Land Around These Mountains Of Oil And Gas” as he called them himself. This group became known as the Provisional Government or Republic Party because no one knew how long it would last before things got too messy orartery wise with other factions trying claim power without having anything tangible to offer voters other than empty promises about future revenue streams etcetera etcetera etcetera Fenton quickly recognized that there wasn't enough room within Austin's current boundaries for another city with all those people so he put together a team consisting mostly white men under his leadership headed up by lawyer John Wesley Powell to explore an alternative location – what is now Dallas – but instead they foundered on account thereof being surrounded on three sides by six Native American nations totaling more than 20 million acres including some homes where settlers could already see Indian residences several miles away allowing minimal time for exploration before hostilities began This situation eventually led Houston to order his troops into battle against Apache Chief Tucson back in November 1830 without warning our neighbors whose homes fronted onto Palo Alto Creek whereupon Travis became scalped alive causing riots among Anglo villagers ensued leading ultimately to annexation byAustin just two months later making Cibolo effectively powerless politically speaking although residents continue maintain nominal cultural ties with their old home through visits during special events like chili cookoffs
