The town of Cibolo was founded in 1868 by John Hance and his family. Bullet production began in 1889 and continued until 1915. At that time, handguns were the only form of firearms used in Cibolo. In 1907, a new ammunition plant was built in Cibolo and it continues to produce Bullets today. In 1941, a new armory was built within the city limits of Cibololand and it still functions as an armory today. Today, Bullet production is conducted at three different locations within the city limits of Cibololand: Gritman’s Ammo Plant adjacent to Elm Street; Baily & Wesson Ammunition Store on Main Street; and Prentiss Arms Depot on Patton Avenue.

Cibolo is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Cibolo was founded by Germans in 1851 and named for Carlos Bautista de Cibolo y Valdés, who had settled there in 1836. The first post office was established in 1858. The name of the town may be derived from the Spanish word "cibi" meaning "to sit down." The original German settlers were farmers. They raised chickens and grew crops until railroads arrived in early 1900s and transportation improved; then they turned to manufacturing with their own mills until World War II when most production stopped because of wartime rationing. Today, many residents work outside the community or have returned to farming as a form of subsistence economy. Manufacturing has resumed since the war but it is small-scale and employment is mostly within local businesses providing goods and services to residents rather than making products themselves. Cibolo's history begins with Carlos Bautista de Cibolo y Valdés who came to Texas in 1836 as part of an expedition led by General Sam Houston to explore new territory west of the Rio Grande River (the old Mexican territory). He found a fertile land area that had not been explored before so he began developing it into what is now Hudspeth County. In 1850, he founded what is now Cibolo after arriving here from Mexico City with his family on horseback while others accompanied him on foot or wagon train. The first post office was opened here on April 6, 1858 by Reuben Hinson with Augustus Cooke serving as clerk/typist/manual worker/seaman/gunner/. A store started up soon afterwards which served both men and customers until 1861 when steamboats made travel possible between Texarkana and this small town instead; henceforth mail was delivered only once per week from May through September due to high rates charged byStagecoach drivers for transporting passengers overland across the Wichita Mountains onto Prairie du Chien station thence across prairies (now Pecos) into Kansas City for delivery back home aboard wagons or stage coaches! This service continued until about 1870 when trains became available which allowed daily shipment of mail anywhere within Union County! From 1870-1875 most residents engaged in agriculture; however during this time coalmining also took off here due to good grades of coal being found nearby including at Idabel where three shafts were sunk beginning operations towards 1880 yielding some more than 12 million pounds of coal each year! By 1903 all mining activity had ceased except for occasional maintenance workings still going today (1959) although surface workings are presently taking place below ground near Carbondale according to recent surveys conducted thereby.................
