In 1876, Major James W. Sutherland of the Texas Rangers, organized a team to explore the interior of what is now Cibolo County. The party traveled up the Colorado River and discovered an area rich in mineral resources. They also discovered an ancient Indian village, which they named Fort Stockton after their leader, Stockton. By 1886, Fort Stockton had been enlarged with a hospital and other buildings. In 1895, rifle cartridges were first introduced into the Western United States when Colonel John A. Brown of the 8th U.S Cavalry fired rounds from his revolver at a ranch game tournament in Mesquite, Nevada. The early ammunition for firearms was made from lead or copper-based projectiles that were shot off a muzzle loading gun into flesh or animal droppings to create buckshot and birdshot ammunition. By 1892, black powder weapons became available as substitutes for muzzleloading guns and this led to the development of artillery rounds that could be fired by breechloading firearms such as rifled cannons and smoothbore rifles

Cotton production began to decline during World War I because of increased competition from other crops; however, it resumed after World War II because new technology improved cotton acreage and yields. Today cotton remains oneofthe town's mainstay economic engines as well as its major source of revenue. Cotton farming is still an important part of life here today; most families grow some typeof crop along with meat or eggs year-round whether it be corn or beans. Cibolo is a small town in Hood County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hood County and the largest city in Hood County by population. The first permanent settler in Cibolo was John Leland who arrived on July 4, 1845. He platted a town site on what is now known as Main Street and named it after his home state of Vermont. Leland's town failed to take off and he returned to America two years later with his family. In 1848 Mikhail Kasyanov established a farmstead on present-day Guadalupe Road south of downtown Cibolo. In 1860 Anna Bogdanova settled in the area east of downtown Cibolo near Guadalupe Road and Highway 290 (now US 90) to raise cotton for export. She named her land Cottonwood Township after her cotton plantation near Athens, Georgia where she grew up. In 1865 George Hargrave founded an agricultural Implement Factory in what is now northeast corner of Main and Elm Streets NE in what is today the downtown core of Cibola which became known as Hargravetown after him. The factory produced wagons, carts and other farming implements until it closed its doors in 1903 due to competition from new companies coming online including Sears Roebuck & Co.'s Wagon Workshops nearby which began production much earlier than Hargrave's company did. The post office was established at Main Street in 1886 under the name "Hood" because all mail going through that part of Texas went through Dallas before being delivered to Coweta or San Antonio prior to arriving at Bexar County’s Post Office on Elm Street northwest of downtown San Antonio where it remained until 1963 when it moved southward into southeast district along I-10 just outside Ciboli limits then becoming "San Angelo", divorced from "Hood" again until reopening as an annexe to Austin proper effective November 1, 1997 following its incorporation into Travis County as "Austin". Incorporation followed by move from southeast district back into northwest district adjacent to original Bexar county limits within Travis County thence becoming "Aurora" before finally reverting back to old name October 1st 2001 effective December 5th following voter approval via referendum process www .citizenaboardcom A fire destroyed much of central City Limits NoMa during early hours hours Sunday morning 09/24/2005; total loss over $40 million

The town site of Cibolo today is located about 12 miles east of Aliceville on the Mexico-US border. In 1915, the town had an population of 100 people and consisted of only one store. By 1925, when it merged with Aliceville, the population had grown to over 500 people and included a grocery store, post office, bank, schoolhouse, and movie theater. In 1961, Cibolo became part of Dallas County and now has a population of around 12,000 people.
