Cedar Park, Texas was settled in 1876 and has been a vibrant community for over 120 years. The city is located on the banks of the Brazos River and is known for its pronounced corn-fed atmosphere. In 1876, General Antonio López de Santa Anna issued an order that all frontier pioneers must carry firearms to protect themselves from Indians and bandits. The first shotguns were sold at the local hardware store and it wasn't until 1924 that rifle ranges became available in Cedar Park. In 1925, a shotgun range opened up on Commerce Street and by 1930, there were also rifle ranges available for use. By 1938, all three types of shooting targets had been added to the park with the addition of a 30-foot bowling alley which became operational in 1944.

In 1959, two schools in Cedar Park were closed due to budget cuts and merged with those in neighboring Springdale to form Springdale-Cedar Park High School. That same year, the name change from Springdale-Cedar Park High School to CedarPark Independent School District #1 following approval by the voters in a referendum. The district operates six high schools: Central Christian Academy; Clear Lake HS; Cypress HS; John F Kennedy HS; Tomball HS; and Westlake HS
