During World War II, when Fort Worth became one of the principal military points in Southwest Asia due to its strategic location between Dallas/Ft Worth and Los Angeles, Cedar Park played an important role throughout the war effort by providing goods and services essential to military installations such as ammunition dumps, fuel storage tanks, barracks, aircraft maintenance yards etcetera.. In 1945 after World War II ended Cedar Park experienced rapid growth with over 1000 residents coming into town during just 5 years! Today more than 1800 people call Cedar park home including nearly 400 children! Most significant recent developments have included: construction of Interstate 35W freeway directly across from downtown; annexation by neighboring Ellis County resulting in increased shopping opportunities nearby including Wal-Mart & Target; establishment of UTEP football team practice facility adjacent to stadium making it easily accessible for both fans & players alike; major rebranding event taking place this fall with all businesses becoming associated with Univision Communications Inc.; updated zoning ordinance giving rise to more buildings being constructed not just single story residences but also high rises - many extending well beyond 500 feet!!!
