Gun protection history in Cedar Park, Texas began with the establishment of the first law enforcement agency in the area on May 4, 1881. The first organized gun club was formed on November 1, 1886. The town's first store opened its doors to customers on December 5, 1893. Cedar Park became a popular tourist destination in the early 1900s andsaw an influx of people from surrounding towns seeking out what they called "The Gun Capital of Texas." In 1915, Cedar Park established its own school system and began providing instruction in firearms use to local children. On January 6, 1923, Cedar Park voters passed an ordinance establishing a city government with a mayor and six council members. On July 1, 1924, Cedar Park annexed the neighboring town of Midland and changed its name to Cedar Park-Midland County. On August 2nd of that year residents of Midland voted to establish their own police department which would operate under the jurisdiction of the City Government. On October 1st 1925 Mayor Hodge announced that he was retiring effective December 31st and that his successor would be elected at a special election held on November 3rd. The new Mayor was Wm Fenton who served until 1945 when he stepped down due to health reasons. For some time before this date there was no permanent head official for municipal government within the county limits as Midland lacked such an office or functioned more as a stopgap measure pending an appointment from one ofthe two governing bodies within county limits-the City Government or the Sheriff's Department

Cedar Park is a small town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Cedar Park is located on the banks of the Colorado River. It is bordered by Canyon Lake to the north and east, Commerce City to the south and west, and US-181 to the northwest. The first European settlers in what is now Cedar Park were French Canadians who arrived in 1794. Charles-Jacques Lafitte built a trading post here in 1806; it became known as Lafitte's Fort. A decade later, Anglo-Americans founded Cedar Park when Captn John Brough erected a log cabin on a bluff overlooking Cedar Creek near present day Elmira Street and Elmira Avenue. That community was renamed Cedar Park after General William Ewing's farmstead on Brushy Creek several miles upstream from where Cedar Rapids stands today. In 1827, David Riddle built an adobe house here which served as his summer home until he sold it to Jno Pemberton in 1835. In 1836 Captain George Fayette organized a volunteer band of dragoons called "The Prairie Dragoons" under the command of Colonel Isaac Parker for service against Mexico during its Mexican American War (1846-1848). Most of these men later settled in Lubbock or Midland Counties where they established families and businesses. The first post office in this town was established here on December 12th, 1840 by Major James Hargrave with New Madrid County as its local clientele; it moved to its current location three years later on May 6th, 1845 In 1861–62 Confederate forces occupied much of Texas during the Civil War; Cedar Park saw combat including two engagements leading up to April 14th when Confederate Brigadier General James Denton attacked Union forces entrenched along Railroad Avenue northeast of town Limits After Reconstruction ended in 1865, many African Americans migrated intoTexas following hard times following emancipation which began nationwide in 1863 Militia groups such as ranching Cowboys roamed free range throughout this territory that had been newly acquired from Mexico prior to annexation cattle drives also took place within these limits although smaller numbers
