Cedar Park is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, located in the East Central region of the state. It was founded in 1871 and is home to The University of Texas at Austin. As of the 2010 census, Cedar Park had a population of 114,813. The first Europeans to visit Cedar Park were two brothers, John Wesley Powell and George Gibbs, who traveled through the area on their way to explore North America in 1821. They named their spot "Cedar Springs" after a nearby cedar tree they saw while exploring west Texas. In 1827, Major James Hogg was surveyed for a road through this area and agreed to name it Cedar Park after his friend and mentor Houston canal builder Samuel Gregg. In 1870, General Sam Houston bought land from Mr. Gregg for $5 per acre (the equivalent of $ today). He began building what would become known as The University of Texas at Austin on campus in Cedar Park that year. That same year also saw the opening of the first post office in Cedar Park – called "Powellville". In 1888-89, construction began on what would become River Oaks Drive which ran parallel to then-Hwy 290 (now I-10). This major thoroughfare remains one of town's defining features today! On September 15th 1889, four days after River Oaks Drive opened up to traffic, local resident Jnoah Boyd shot and killed two Dallas policemen during an altercation over control rights to a parking lot across Elm Street from The University Clubhouse – now part of UT Austin's medical complex! A heated trial ensued with many people involved coming from all over town for what became known as "The Boyd Trial." After three days Jury deliberations ended without finding any guilty verdicts; public outcry led Lt Gov Sam Rayburn to sign an executive order ordering that no more law enforcement be used without warrants within 10 miles (16 km) radius of any college or university! This event has been cited as one reason why Dallas became nationally renown for its crime rates during this time period…. sir you can't do that here!

Cedar Park is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, located on the banks of the Colorado River. The population was 25,651 at the 2010 census. Cedar Park is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area and it is also included in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Cedar Park community began as an agricultural settlement in about 1840s, when a man by the name of Cedar named his farm after a cedar tree he saw near his home in Kentucky. By 1870, Cedar had a post office and six stores. In 1881, local citizens organized what became known as "The First Methodist Church" with Rev. Wm Pohl officiating at its first service. The church building still stands today and is used for community events such as auctions and weddings. A tramway line operated by Arlington County connected Cedar Park with nearby Round Rock and San Antonio until it was discontinued in 1916 due to budget cuts by then-County Judge James Maughs; however, evidence suggests that there may have been some passenger traffic before then! In 1906, Cedar was incorporated as a city under Texas law; it prospered through annexation of neighboring towns during ensuing decades thanks to its location on the Arkansas River betweenAustin and Garland (then Limestone County). That same year saw construction begin on what would become one of downtown Austin's earliest buildings: The State Capitol Building which opened in 1913 filled with administrative offices for both state government and county governments before becoming home to legislative chambers during Austin's heyday as a capital city – something that hadn't happened since Travis County was created from parts of Harris County in 1876! During World War II (1941-1945), Confederate General John Buford wrote letters home complaining about being denied visas to visit America because he wasn't white enough (he later died aged 92). This led directly to TX Gov Franklin Diller approving $2 million dollars towards housing development around Arlington Cemetery just outside town limits – resulting in what are now some of Arlington's most renowned addresses including 4th Street NW & IH20W/IH35W & 17th Street NW! Buford's story didn't end there though – following American victory over Axis forces at Okinawa he decided against returning home yet again so made plans instead for an international exhibition commemorating Japan's surrender taking place at Universal Studios Hollywood across from downtown Los Angeles; this event would go down within history books as one of cinema history’s biggest disasters leading up finally to Japan’s occupationof Korea starting on September 9th 1945!!! In 1965 two buses ran into each other head-on while traveling along IH10 southbound near FM 571; all five passengers were killed instantly whilst all but one bus driver survived with minor injuries; this accident quickly came to be known locally as "The Bus Crash". It has long been speculated that either drunken drivers or tired drivers were involved but no definitive proof exists despite numerous investigations over years….until now! In November 2017 officials announced they had obtained video footage which appears to show two people driving drunk causing the bus crash which took place less than a mile away from their house…..nearly 20 years after it happened!
Cedar Park was founded on May 25, 1879 by citizens of Houston. The town was named after the cedar trees that grew in the area. The first post office in Cedar Park opened in 1881. In 1897, Cedar Park became a city and was renamed Houston.
