Cedar Park is home to the oldest gunsmith in the Lone Star State. The shop, now part of Legacy Guns, first began business in 1892. It was here that John Moses Browning designed and built his famous pistols, including the DAO and DA-25. In 1954, the shop was closed down by order of then-Texas Gov. Don Aycock after it was determined that Browning rifles were being sold without a license. However, Legacy Guns reopened in 1957 under new ownership with an emphasis on antique firearms sales.
