Cedar Park, Texas is home to the nation’s second-largest handgun and rifle shooting range. The range has been in operation since 1907, and it is one of the most popular places in Texas for firearms enthusiasts. The Cedar Park Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1907. It was here that revolver shooters first began to learn how to shoot accurately. Today, the club offers a variety of courses for members from beginner to experienced shooters. In 1952, the NRA adopted regulations permitting handguns only for self-defense purposes within 100 feet of a dwelling or other public place where people could be expected to be present. This restriction applied only to handguns not capable of firing more than five rounds per minute without reloading. In 1978, the NRA decided that all firearms must be registered with the government before they could be possessed or used in any way except in cases of self-defense or hunting with a permit. This decision made Cedar Park one of the first communities in America to fully comply with gun registration laws. Harkins, who donated a rifle and pistol range to the club. The club organized its own competition events, which were held at various locations such as the local school, park, oreven private homes. In 1916, the club adopted a resolution establishing a board of directors to manage theclub's affairs and provide guidance for future contests, meetings, and other activities. In 1933, the Cedar Park Rifle and Pistol Club merged with two other organizations to form The Texas Gun Owners Association (TGOA). TGOA continues to be one of America's largest firearm organizations with over 200 chapters across all fifty states plus D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam and Virgin Islands
Cedar Park is a town in Austin, Texas, United States. The population was 31,898 at the 2010 census. Cedar Park was founded in 1892 by brothers John and James Witherspoon. It is located on the banks of Buffalo Bayou. Cedar Park is home to the Cedar Park Playground and the Cedar Park Zoo. The townsite has been owned by various families for centuries and contains many contributing buildings from that time including a hand-carved stone courthouse dating back to 1894. In 1928, Cedar Park incorporated as a city and grew rapidly with annexations from other nearby municipalities until it had a total population of over 100,000 by 1990. After years of decline due to suburban sprawl and economic duress, Cedar park annexed much of unincorporated Williamson County in 2003 to make room for more development within its boundaries. In 2013, the City Council voted 4-0 to annex additional portions of unincorporated Williamson County based on criteria including lack of open space or planning regulations that would prevent their addition to the city limits

Cedar Park is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas, within the Greater Houston metropolitan area. The population was 2,815 at the 2010 census. Cedar Park is located on the banks of the Brazos River and is bordered by Baytown to the east and Spring Branch to the south. It formed from parts of Clear Lake and Humble City. The first residents in Cedar Park were Texans who had come north following the Mexican-American War. They built their homes around what are now downtown Cedar Park and Slaughter Creek. In 1873, John Wesley Powell surveyed a stretch of land that would become Cedar Park when he led an exploration party through Texas for US exploratory authorities. United States President Ulysses S Grant approved his survey and assigned General William Troup to lead a force of soldiers in building Fort Worth's first military post at what is now Polo Grounds (now Minute Maid Park). In 1874–75, local citizens founded a school district which included part of what would become Cedar Park; today it forms part of Clear Lake Independent School District #316. In 1886, John Denton organized what became Rangers Hall Race Course as one of several horse racing farms near present-day Dickinson Airport in southeast Houston; this race track continued operation until 1959 when it closed due to lack of patronage.. In 1907, Alamo Heights was annexed into Cedar Park from Spring Branch Township; this annexation created Pioneer Square which still includes many residences from that time period. On November 5th 1928 Elmira Kapp (1907–1998) became the first female Mayor of Houston with over 58% majority vote obtaining office as mayor despite no run for office since her election victory three years earlier as an unincorporated community activist on April 15th 1925! She served two terms before stepping down due to term limits set by then-Houston Mayor Sam McGee upon her assumption of power after McGee's resignation on December 12th 1929
