Cedar Park is a town in Travis County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cedar Park was founded in 1879 and named for Cedar Creek, which flows through the town. The first settlers in what is now Cedar Park were French Canadians who arrived in 1827 from Saint John's Valley, New Brunswick. They established a sawmill and gristmill on the north side of Cedar Creek and built a frame courthouse and school in 1829. In 1851, J.D. Taylor donated land to become an unincorporated community around his lumberyard and store on East Broadway Street. Many early residents came from pioneer families that had come to Texas during the Mexican War to help war effort efforts such as those of Lt.-Governor Antonio López de Santa Anna. The community grew slowly until it became an incorporated municipality with its own government in 1905 when voters passed a resolution calling for one statewide referendum on whether to make Cedar Park an independent city or remain within Travis County (it was not annexed by Austin until 1912). In 1915, when World War I began, many local men enlisted in the military and left their homes; as a result, little development took place until after World War II when immigrants began arriving from eastern Europe who wanted to live near large cities like Dallas or Houston but could not find open-ended housing opportunities available within Travis County limits (the county had been created by state legislators via annexation of parts of San Antonio). This new influx led to increased population growth over time as people looked for other places to call home than within Travis County boundaries – although much of this migration occurred without voter notification or announcement; consequently, few records exist from early Cedar Park history that would allow us to date these events precisely. Cedar Park experienced significant growth following World War II as new arrivals looking for housing overwhelmed available space within Travis County – primarily due to Interstate 10 being built just east of town along what is now I-35W; this expressway facilitated rapid transportation access across southern Texas while also creating numerous small towns throughout its length (including Cedar Park) that enjoyed easy access to larger metropolitan areas like Dallas or Austin thanks largely to Interstate 15 which connected them directly unto these large urban centers (an effect still evident today). Consequently, more businesses opened up throughout the years including restaurants and stores along I-10 west of town while also developing residential neighborhoods further south around FM 1492/Upper Arlington Road; these developments are still visible today along busy portions of I-10 & FM 1492/Upper Arlington Road corridor). The current day can be seen as having begun relatively recently due particularly to changes taking place within both neighboring municipalities: Trinity School District #2 decided in 2009to close their high school campus located behind South Lamar Elementary School & relocate all students (& staff) into nearby West College Station - effectively making Trinity High School & South Lamar Elementary Schools completely separate schools entities operated under different governing boards with no connection whatsoever between them - setting off a chain reaction that has seen increasing enrollment at South Lamar Elementary School while concurrently decreasing enrollment at West College Station since then! This rebranding event has actually resulted in an increase overall enrollments at North Lamar Middle School since then too – most likely due simply to parents wanting their children closer together 😉 . In short: There’s good news & bad news about our “school consolidation” crisis...good because it means MORE STUDENTS = MORE BUSINESSES = HIGHER ECONOMIC VALUE TO THE COMMUNITY!?!?

In 1945, Cedar Park became a separate municipality and experienced significant growth during the postwar period as it emerged as a leading agricultural center in Texas.
