By 1840 the community had outgrown its original site and began to build another mill on the current site of CedarHill Elementary School in order to increase their production capacity. This new mill became known as "the White House" because it processed all types of lumber for use in buildings throughout downtownDallas. In 1847HB Richardson took office as Dallas County sheriff and began an effort to improve conditions for county residents which included creating more open space, promoting irrigation systems and developing parks and playgrounds within walking distance of many homes. One result of this effort was increased tourism which led to development along Main Street including several hotels, restaurants and nightclubs during this time period - not only did Cedar Hill become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Dallas but also helped solidify its role as a centerpoint forDallas life during this era
