A group of men led by John Sibley founded Sibley Mill in 1837, which became one of the largest cotton plantations in North America. In 1840, Sibley married Anna Lamar 101 miles (16 kilometers) northeast of Cedar Hill on I-10. They had five children: Sarah (1841-1917), John (1843-1925), Anna (1845-1927), Edwin Lamar (1847-1928), and James Tilton Sibley (1849-1920). In 1881, Clementson Poultry Company bought 613 acres (248 hectares) north of where Cedar Hills now stands for $1 per acre ($2 per hectare). This purchase allowed them to produce chickens for local consumption rather than selling their eggs abroad or raising hogs for meat production. The first grocery store opened in Cedar Hill in 1895 called "The Gilded Cage." It remained open until 1978 when it closed due to economic decline within Travis County at the time. CedarHill's unique history began with its incorporation as a town on November 5th, 1909 under then county commissioner William Hodge Sr.. At that time only 2% of Travis County was rural; however soon aftertownspeople realized their opportunity to get involved with government as elected officials through voting rights instead waited until 1911 when they petitioned for statehood which was granted on November 3rd thanks to then Congressman George Hearn’s leadership role within Congress during that year’s elections Voting rights were also granted to other villages throughout Texas during this time such as Alpine Village near San Antonio and Midlothian among others before statehood made all village governments statewide effective January 1st 1912 . Today there are over 60 municipalities across Texas including Cedar Hill whose citizens have complete control over their government via municipal elections every four years

Cedar Hill is located on Farm to Market Road 54/16 and State Highway 377. The first white person to visit Cedar Hill was Capt. James Watt (1795-1872) when he surveyed the area for the new Fort Worth post office in 1827. Cedar Hill was platted in 1839 by John Denton and named after a hill near where his family lived on Farm to Market Road 522 east of present day Cedar Hill. The first post office was opened in 1840, and it remained open until 1907 when it moved to Irvington due to its close proximity to Fort Worth. The first school in Cedar Hill was built in 1843 by Drs. James Hogg and Alexander Weir with support from Major General Sam Houston. The current school building, which dates back to 1895, replaced an earlier structure that had been damaged by a storm while being used as a barnstormingcircular drive during horseback riding season led by Lt.-Gov./Governor William Broun . In 1923, the old high school building became home of Baylor University’s Cottonwood Heights campus after it left its original location on Elm Street behind Walnut Creek Drive in east Dallas; this property has since been redeveloped into commercial properties with several stores now occupying the two blocks between Elm and Walnut Streets between Baylor’s campus buildings and Interstate 30 north of campus serving as retail corridors for much of downtownDallas In 1969–70 CedarHill also saw extensive reconstruction following a tornado that struck just east of town on October 3rd which destroyed most homes within ½ mile of downtown Cedarhill killing 16 people including 7 children;[1][2] this event helped set off far-reaching changes throughout Hudspeth County resulting primarily from increased insurance rates associated with such events[3] In recent years there has been some progress made towards revitalization with several businesses having reopened or moving into their former locations including local antique store Peddle & Prindle selling items dating back to before WWI,[4] coffee shop Filigree along I-30 just south of town across from US 290 southbound exit ramp providing access 10 minutes ago direct off I-30 adjacent parking lot will soon be filled up again so no more BBQ injures here
