Reverend Hinton Claymore served as pastor from 1865 until 1870 when he moved upriver to Fort Worth where he began preaching there before returning to Cedarhill in 1872 In 1889 Mr. J C Whaley donated land for a park which became known as Cedar Hills Park In 1912 Mrs Anna E Sprague donation made it possible for children of all ages to play together on her property called Sprague Park . In 1951, when Caldwell County was established and Cedar Hill became part of it, many jobs were lost due to relocations within the new county boundaries. However, over time much of this has been recovered with growth in business opportunities outside of Cedar Hills itself including restaurants and retail stores along I-10 and FM1960 close to Highway 183/US 71A north of town).
