Cedar Hill, Texas is a small town located in Hood County, Texas. The population was 2,521 at the 2000 census. It is the home of Cedar Hill Shooting Club and has been hosting target shooting competitions since 1892. In that year, Major General John G. Frémont organized a meeting in Cedar Hill to consider establishing a new military post in central Texas. At the meeting, representatives from eleven towns near Cedar Hill were elected to develop plans for the new post. One of these towns was Cedar Hill, which offered to donate land for the post.Construction on the Post began in 1894 and it was completed in 1896. The Post served as an artillery batteries command center during World War I and World War II before being decommissioned and sold to Mexico in 1944. Today, Cedar Hill Shooting Club continues to host target shooting competitions with the goal of promoting NRA membership drives and raising money for local charities. The club also offers instruction on how to shoot at various distances including rifle/pistol range competition; shotgun range competition; pistol class; personal defense training; off-road gun safety courses; muzzleloading Reloading School (LRM); duck hunting school (DCHS); dog sledding school (DSL); Confederate soldier encampment course (CSCE); and blackpowder firearms demonstrations (BPDs).

Cedar Hill is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cedar Hill is named after Cedar Creek, which flows through the town. The Cedar Hill post office was established in 1875 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1908. The first settler in Cedar Hill was John Aiken who arrived in 1853 from Kentucky. Aiken founded what would become CedarHill when he purchased Lots 11 and 12 on November 3, 1853 from James Halliday for $100$. A school started up by Mrs. John Fenton (later Mrs. George Waddell) on December 6th, 1865 lasted for only six months before being closed due to lack of pupils. In 1870 Drury built a house on lot No 5 for himself and his wife Nannie with their five children – three girls and two boys; one of these boys would later become the husband of Lillie Bigham (1899-1983). By 1872 there were thirtyfive families living here including twenty-six farmers and six stockmen according to USGS records In 1886 J P Hays bought lots 2-6 from Mr Fenton for $25 each with an ambition to make this into a "grand village" as he saw it but died prior to realizing his dream Emanuel McFarlane became the first postmaster when he took office on October 10th, 1888 He had been appointed by General Johnston who had just been made President of the United States after Abraham Lincoln's assassination From 1889 until 1893 Drury served as treasurer while also dabbling in real estate investments . In 1897 Hays’ widow sold him her interest shares totaling 4 acres plus another building located on lot No 7 giving rise to what would become known as “the old white house” . On October 10th 1895 G Waddell moved into lot 8 next door joining Drury, McKellar & Howe whose totals now stood at over sixty residents This development however came to a halt when G Waddell passed away suddenly leaving behind four children under age sixteen years old: Ruth E Hays (1901-1978), Delores Wilburn (1903-1981), Vernon Edwin Hays (1905-1987) & Joyce Ann Hodge (1907-1996) all raised within the family home until their deaths either young or elderly then moving out into their own homes eventually becoming homeowners themselves w/o any memory of G Waddell or his time here
