The Cedar Hill, Texas history begins in the 1800s with pioneers who journeyed from Illinois to find a new home. The first settler in Cedar Hill was Judge John Wesley Hardin, who arrived in 1836. He and his family began farming and trading goods with other settlers in the area. By 1840, there were six families living in Cedar Hill. In 1851, Judge Hardin's son-in-law James Waddell purchased land east of present day Cedar Hill from Andrew Jackson Davis for $1,000. Waddell founded the town of Cedar Hill on this land and named it after his father-in-law. The first schools were built in Cedar Hill and soon enough, other towns began to form around it. By 1860, there were twelve settlements in Cedar Hill. In 1865, Confederate General Braxton Bragg siege an Union fortifications at Corinth without firing a shot and captured over 25 soldiers including Captain John Pembert of the 1st Texas Infantry Regiment who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism during that engagement In 1868 General Robert ELee’s Army marched through southern Texas on its way to invade Virginia On January 9th 1870 Major Elijah Armstrong (1839-1921) led a detachment of mounted cavalrymen against Jeb Stuart’s Cavalry brigade during what is now known as “The Day Of The Outlaws” - an event which has been immortalized by Hallelujah! Hillsborough County Sheriff Donny Hathaway testified at trial that Armstrong’s unit had surrounded and attacked Stuart’s brigade while they slept outside their lines In 1870 Jesse Pickens acquired 640 acres northeast of present day CedarHill from Andrew Jackson Davis for $800 Pickens named his property Highway 21 after himself In 1888 Elias Goodloe established another small farming community called Indianola about three miles northwest of Highway 21 near today's highway exit 418 By 1890 there were ten settlements located withinias Highway 21
Cedar Hill is a small town in Travis County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Cedar Hill is located in the eastern edge of Travis County and is bordered by Uptown to the south, South Austin to the west and north, and east by Richardson Ranch. Cedar Hill First Baptist Church is located in Cedar Hill. The first settlers of Cedar Hill were farmers who came from Kentucky in 1857. They built a log cabin on what is now State Highway 183 (SH 183). The original town had no schools and relied on farming for revenue. A post office was established in 1858, but it closed in 1861 because there was not enough mail traffic to support operations. A new post office was opened in 1865, and it continued to serve as an important local center until 1907 when it amalgamated with Richardson Ranch to form one larger community called CedarHill. In 1876, John Hargrave founded Hargrave & Sons Grain Elevator which became one of the largest grain elevators in Texas. In 1902-1903 Confederate veteran James Waddell built a house near SH 183 that served as the nucleus for what would become known as CedarHill Village development. The village contained five homes, two stores/farms (the Goudy Store and Riggs Hardware), a blacksmith shop (later converted into a restaurant), four churches (First Baptist Church being the earliest), three schools (grades 1-6 served from1877 through 1906; grades 7-12 from 1909 through 1912), three residences (including Mr. Hargrave's home) and two public buildings including the Harmony Hall School House which served as county courthouse from 1903 until 1951 when it was replaced by Wright County Courthouse CedarHill Village eventually developed into an area with many businesses including banks (+ several during World War II due to serious tank damage done nearby), restaurants (+ several during war years), professional services (- several due to recession after Pearl Harborattack), houses + apartments - most remain today although some have been demolished or converted into luxury condos Homes began moving out of villages during prohibition period around 1920s while apartments moved into areas such as Elmhurst district across town In 2007 CBS Broadcasting Incorporated announced they were considering merging all their stations together under one name- KCBS- making this also happen within TX media ownership group however that plan fell apart

Cedar Hill is a small town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 953 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Amarillo–Texarkana Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cedar Hill was founded in 1881 by Welsh immigrants who named it after Cedar Creek in Wales. The town began as a farming community with few residents and no businesses when it was platted in 1881. The first post office opened in that year, and the first store closed soon after because there were not enough customers to sustain it. In 1882, three men from Arkansas bought land surrounding Cedar Hill for $2 per acre (0.50 per km²). They built a log cabin and started trading goods and services with the settlers around them. By 1886, there were ten residents living in Cedar Hill, all of whom had purchased land from the Arkansasmen. The railroad arrived in Cedar Hill on December 8, 1886; within two weeks of its arrival, one man had built a shack near the tracks to sell goods to travelers coming into town for lunch or depot rides on the train. By 1893, Cedar Hill had five stores: four individual stores and one grocery store operated by Wm Gentry & Sons Railroad Store Co., which also sold lumber and other supplies from its sawmill located northeast of town on White Oak creek.. In 1896-97 new homes were erected east of Main Street between Elm Avenue and US 71 while big rigs unloaded supplies at local gas stations just south of town during off-peak hours; but this only lasted until 1903 when Interstate 20 replaced their access route... In 1907-08 an oil well was drilled adjacent to Main Street near where primary school now stands; production ceased due to lack of water resources however some drums still remain today as part of local folklore A post office called Cedar Hills was established at this location on October 15th 1908 under mail order service subscribed by citizens residing outside the incorporated limits serving themselves with postage stamps mailed back to those living within range via horseback or automobile
Cedar Hill, Texas is a town located in Arlington County, Texas, within the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The population was 1,865 at the 2010 census. Cedar Hill was founded in 1892 by John and Anna Kline as a small farming community near what is now Arlington Cemetery. In 1907, Cedar Hill became the first incorporated town in Arlington County. The Klines donated all of their land to Cedar Hill for development. Cedar Hill's first store opened on Main Street in 1912 and its first post office opened on High Street in 1913. The Klines also built a home at 801 Elm St., which still stands today. In 1929, Cliff Hinton purchased many acres of land east of CedarHill and developed it into what is now Parkland Shopping Center. Parkland Shopping Center was designed by Ogden Nash and completed in 1932. It served as the anchor store for Parkland Boulevard until it closed its doors in 1984. In 1957, president Dwight D Eisenhower chaired a meeting that created the National Memorial Foundation to commemorate World War II veterans and their families who had served overseas or had been drafted during the war but were not able to return to serve because of health reasons or other reasons beyond their control such as combat duty. President Eisenhower designated May 3rd as National Veterans Day to recognize this dedication by Congress."
