Cedar Hill is a small town located in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 537 at the 2000 census. Cedar Hill is part of the Austin–Round Rock, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cedar Hill is named after Cedar Creek which flows through the town. The first permanent settler in Cedar Hill was Elias Howe who donated land to the town on November 25, 1871. A post office called Cedar Hill was established in 1875, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1901. The townsite was bought by businessman James Boggs from Howe on December 9, 1886 for $2,500 cash. The original village of Cedar Hills had a school and Methodist church as well as a few stores and homes. It formally incorporated as a city on January 1, 1893 under the name of Round Rock before reverting to its original name on July 15th that year following James Boggs death. Cedar Hills experienced heavy economic decline during the 1920s with many residents moving away for better opportunities in roundrock or Dallas-Fort Worth forms of employment during this time period. However, since World War II has seen an increase in development around Cedar Hill with new housing developments being built along US 290 west of town and several businesses opening up including two banks and four restaurants throughout the years leading up to its current status quo where most people live within walking distance of their jobs or shopping options without any major infrastructure investments necessary outside of occasional street repairs/maintenance projects which have occurred sporadically over recent decades (e.g., water main replacement). Today there are still some pockets of poverty present but overall life expectancy here has increased markedly over recent decades due to improved medical care options available outside of town limits making it one of Texas' more affluent communities by median household income standards (see "2010 U .S . Census" report[1]). In 2010 only 0%of residents lived below poverty line while 78%of residents had at least some college education diploma or higher according to federal Poverty Guidelines[1]

Cedar Hill is a town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. Cedar Hill is located on the right bank of the Rio Grande River, about west of downtown Austin. Cedar Hill was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1836 as part of the Trans-Pecos District. The name Cedar Hill comes from a cedar tree that grew near the original site of the town. The first post office in Cedar Hill was established in 1837 and was called Wintersville. In 1845, Cedar Hills residents voted to incorporate as a town under the name Cedar Rapids. In 1870, Cedar Rapids changed its name to CedarHill because of concerns that other towns with similar names would confuse residents in their new community. The first cotton gin in Texas was built in Cedar Hills by George Davis in 1876. By 1899, there were 10 cotton gins statewide and 4 gin companies operating in Texas alone. Cotton production declined during World War II but has since resumed with increasing efficiency due to technological advances. At present, cotton farming employs more than 3% of Texans’ employment and accounts for over $10 billion worth of economic output statewide each year
