Carrollton is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,636 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first people to come to Carrollton were Methodists from Tennessee and Kentucky. They built a small community near present-day Arlington on the banks of the Trinity River. In 1881, a group of Scotsmen from Dunfermline, Scotland, founded an agricultural colony called Carrolton on what is now southbound I-10 just east of downtown Carrollton. This settlement lasted for only two years before being forced out by Indian raids and other events. In 1882, Reverend Waddy McGee founded the Methodist Episcopal Church in Carrollton and began teaching there. At that time, there were only a few schools in Tarrant County; however, Rev. McGee's church soon became one of the most popular in town because it offered excellent education at a low cost to local children. By 1904, Methodist churches had congregations throughout Tarrant County and carollTON had become one of their main centers of worship. In 1907, businessmen Harry Hays and Willard Carney bought land adjacent to what is now northbound I-10 between Streetsboro Road and Elm Street in order to build an expressway known as "The Great North Road". The road would provide access to Fort Worth from Dallas (then called Dodge City) through Carrollton and onto Interstate 10 outside Fort Worth. Theexpressway was completed in 1948 and renamed "I-10" after then Governor John Connally who helped finance its construction

Carrollton is a small town located in Kaufman County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,867 at the 2010 census. It has been called "The Gem of the South" and "The Birthplace of American Aviation." The town was founded by John Carroll in 1887 and incorporated as a city on January 15, 1907. In 1916, World War I veteran Major General James H. Webb established Webb Air Service Base in nearby San Angelo to provide military support for local cotton farmers during the war. The base would play an important role in later years when airmail service became available to the area. After World War II ended, Eagle Aircraft Manufacturing Company was founded here to produce postwar jet aircraft. In 1951, after years of growth and development within the town limits- including two annexations- Carrollton officially became a city again with full powers over its own affairs under mayor Josefina Gomez de la Vega. By 1990, however, it had shrunk to its current size due largely to declines in manufacturing and agricultural production throughout Kaufman County and Eagle's bankruptcy declaration that year led to layoffs for many locals employed thereabouts; indeed much of what remained of Carrollton lay fallow until 2002 when plans were announced for revitalization which have since proceeded apace (see below). On July 26th 1912 John Carroll opened his first store at 711 Elm Street in what is now known as Carrollton Square
Carrollton, Texas was founded on December 6, 1846 by Captain John Carroll and his family. The town was named after General James K. Polk who had been the president at the time of its founding.
