Burleson is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, located in the Midwestern region of the country. The city was founded by German immigrants in 1881 and has since become a major center for the oil industry, with its largest refinery being located there. Today, parts of downtown Burleson remain popular tourist attractions despite some damage done as a result of Hurricane Harvey last year Burleson began as a small community along the banks of Buffalo Bayou near present-day Mesquite County Line Road and Railroad Avenue just east of present-day Interstate 453 between Eagle Ford Ranch and Rangely early on December 3, 1881 when two families - Abraham Sager and his wife Annae (née Kapp) - settled alongside James Jettner on what would later become known as Sager Ranch northwest of town on land leased from Jean Baptiste Chouteau for $8 per acre ($/acre). (Today adjacent portions including Sager Park are included within Mesquite County.) Jacob Hennig established himself at nearby East Brady Landing downstream from Sagers while Augustus Ewing established himself further downriver at West Brady Landing about three miles southeast from today's town limits onleased land northeast from Fort Worth for $5 per acre ($/acre)). In all, these pioneers organized themselves into several committees to work out their unique solutions to overcome various frontier challenges: transportation issues due to lack thereof roads or trails; water issues due to scarcity or high costs associated with creating wells; cattle ranching difficulties attending agricultural fairs interfered with animal husbandry practices; disputes over land boundaries resulting in several skirmishes during early years...these efforts eventually led resulted in organized government - first under Mexican rule before Texarkana formed under American sovereignty following independence from Mexico - that provided basic services such as education, health care (including birth control), military service, civil engineering works and commerce necessary for day-to-day life...this new form government soon realized an opportunity through development opportunities presented by Texas' burgeoning petroleum industry which had begun reaching new heights thanks largely to newly developed pipelines transporting natural gas eastward through Wichita Falls and Amarillo...oil production rapidly expanded throughout much southern & central Mexico during this time leading some Texans to dub themselves "Exporters" because they were responsible for all aspects related thereto...oil rig activity nearby quickly aroused local residents' interest culminating with formation by John Darnell Mabry Jr., president pro tem [of San Antonio County] & postmaster general [of Texas], late summer 1861,...Mabry approached Baylor University President David Waco regarding possibility interested students could participate[in] drilling operations conducted off shore off Galveston Island)...permission was given allowing students limited participation but instruction continued nonetheless without any actual drilling occurring... ensuing months saw increasing number Of students joining hands with Drilling Committee members Jettner(president), Hennig(vice president), Mabry(secretary pro tem), Darnell(assistant secretary pro temp.), George Fenton(painter) & others contributing money (& art supplies) h&w drill bits & equipment needed for daily operationsabaiting various fish species available during those days offshore including Stumpy Drumfish which inhabits areas well south west of hereabouts This group successfully drilled 12 wells producing 333 barrels/dayneat crude oil initially valued at $5 million but increased rapidly over time becoming valuable primarily because it allowedTexarkana residents access not onlyto affordable crude oil but also laid down infrastructure necessary for efficient marketingangevitable upon large scale production breakthrough later that decade

The town's commercial development stalled during World War II because of wartime shortages of goods that could be shipped through Comal County ports such as Houston or San Antonio. However, after Texas joined the war effort and new munitions manufacturing plants were established in nearby Fort Worth and Beaumont ( later named Arlington), industry revived in Burleson during 1946-1947 with construction of new schools, churches, hospitals and other public buildings including a modern airport which served as local base for military air operations during WWII. In recent years burlesoni has seen strong economic resurgence due to population growth (+10%) among millennials (+20%), joblessness (-1%) among older residents (-5%) and increase tourism (+11%). The city annexed much of rural Comal County in order to accommodate this rapidly growing population; however some parcels remain unincorporated within comal county limits making burlesonom one of many "border towns" between two counties located within TX but without common jurisdictional boundaries
