In 1870, it became known as The Western revolver paper which lasted until 1886 when it changed its name to The Cowboy Journal again after being purchased by George Wickersham ( Owner/Publisher). In 1901, it became known as The Pistol Paper which continued until 1912 when it changed its name yet again to simply The Paper Magazine . From 1912-1964 there wasn’t an issue published every week so issues would go out “x” weeks or sometimes even less due to poor printing quality or lack of funding however all issues prior to 1964 are still extant online including scans & images Although many different magazines have been published over the years throughout Texas there is one that has always held a special place within the hearts of Texans: Gun Magazines!

In 1928, the town of Burleson merged with the adjacent city of Pampa to form one municipality. The merger failed to achieve ballot approval due to local opposition from Pampa residents who felt they had been shortchanged by the merger. In 1978, a second municipal merger occurred when Plano annexed the towns of Beechwood and Garland to become one municipality again. The current name for Burleson comes from Harry S Truman's (55th President of the United States) home state of Missouri: "Burleston" means "place where wheat is grown." Truman's grandmother was born there in 1881 and her father also owned land within its boundaries.
