The first gun magazine inBurleson was called “The Rifleman’s Journal.” It was organized by John Pemberton and published quarterly. At the time, it was the only place where people could buy guns without going through a dealer. In 1874, a new store called “Powder House” opened up in Burleson. It became the home for many of the city’sgun Dealers. Because this store had such a large inventory of weapons, it became known as the Gunbrokerage Center. Eventually, this name came to be used for all of the gun stores in town. In 1907, another new store called “Guns & Ammo” opened up in Burleson. This store became one of the most important in town because it sold ammunition and artillery supplies to both local farmers and soldiers during World War I. After World War I ended, this store closed down but later reopened under different ownership and continued selling ammunition until it went out of business in 1979. In 1971, another new store called “Barton Supply Company” opened up in Burleson. This store later became known as the grocery section of The Gap Incorporated chain when that company merged with Sears Roebuck & Co., which owned several other stores throughout Texarkana County including Burklewood Mall and Valley Fair Shopping Center adjacent to Barton Supply Company at 815 W Capitol Ave.). When that merger happened, Barton Supply Company also merged into Sears Holdings Corporation (SHC). As part of SHC, Barton Supply Company ceased operations completely on July 1st 1997 after more than 60 years serving customers inBurleson!

Burleson is a city in Gregg County, Texas, United States. The population was 553 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Gregg County and home to the University of Texas at Burleson. The city was founded in 1879 by James W. Burleson and named after him. A post office called Burleson was established in 1881, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. Burleson began to grow rapidly as a result of its location on the main line between Dallas and Houston. In 1901, it became the second town in Gregg County after Garland to be incorporated as a city. The growth of Burleson led to the erection of a new courthouse in 1909 and the construction of several other buildings including a hospital, schoolhouse, Masonic hall, movie theater, grocery store, auto dealership and residential areas such as Lakeshore Drive and East Lake Park Drive. In 1924, burley cotton became an important factor inBurleson's economy with large mills located along Loop 610 near downtown and further east along Buffalo Bayou where rice had been grown for centuries before that waterway became navigable for shipping. Cotton production also continued until about 1970 when all but one mill closed due to technological advances from Asian countries which caused lower world prices for cotton which hurt local businesses ability to sell their product locally

The town was founded by Captain John Houstoun in 1836 and named after General Sam Houston's father-in-law, James Burleson (1793–1866). In 1875, it was consolidated with Mission Borrego Springs and became a municipality under the name Burleson. In 1907 it changed its name to San Angelo and again to Burleson in 1920 when its annexation by Arlington Heights occurred. In 1933, burley cotton production began on nearby Manor Field Plantation which continues to this day as one of the most important cotton plantations in Texas today. The plant produced over 2 million pounds of cotton from 1930 through 1945 and remained an important part of local economic life until it closed down due to environmental damage in 1984
Burleson was founded by John Burleson in 1836. The town grew rapidly and by 1840 it had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1849, the first post office was opened in the town. By 1870, Burleson had a bank, three churches, and a school. The town declined in importance during the 19th century but has since regained some of its former prominence as a farming community with heavy manufacturing interests.
