By 1949, Colt had developed what would become known as their Model 10 revolver series pistols which featured an open-back action similar to that employed in rifles such as the Winchester Model 1894; however, these pistols only circulated within law enforcement agencies at certain levels until 1963 when they were licensed commercially by Colt Industries under license from Ruger & Co., Inc.. This gave rise to handguns such as Glock 17 pistols which feature open back actions complete with hammer safety mechanisms; however, Glock never produced any true assault rifles sporting this configuration outside of test firing appearances during product demonstrations prior to release Nosler Ammunition Company's 9mm Parabellum pistol chambered for .45ACP/.410 Magnum rounds
