As the history of ammunition can be traced back to a time before there was a United States of America, it is important to understand how ammo has been used in Texas. In fact, one of the earliest reports on ammunition is from 1796. That year, an Englishman named John Denton published an article in The North American Review about muzzle loading rifles and pistols. In that article, Denton mentioned that he had recently toured what he called “the most extensive collection of ammunition ever discovered in this country” and that he found many old cannons and guns with rounds inside their barrels. This indicates that at some point prior to 1836, ammunition was being stored and used within Burleson proper. In 1836, Congress passed the Act for Regulating Commerce with Foreign Nations which established the present-day Department of Commerce and Trade. The act placed a duty on all firearms imported into the United States except those made for use within three months of July 1st each year. The act also provided for the regulation of gunsmiths who manufactured firearms without complying with certain requirements. These requirements included having a certificate from an approved arms dealer stating that you are qualified to sell rifles, pistols or shotguns by retail under your name and address. That same year saw the beginning of what would become known as Cowboy Ammunition production in Burleson proper (then known as Jacksboro). began by local resident George Epperson who bought some land near Jacksboro Creek in 1867 so he could develop it into a cattle ranch. From this starting point, Epperson developed what would become known as Ranger Ammunition production which continued until 1965 when it was purchased by Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester). At its peak during World War II, Ranger Ammunition produced over two million rounds per day! Today Ranger Ammunition remains one of Burleson’s most important businesses with operations located across several buildings including our iconic Jacksboro Creek Ranch!

Today, Burleson is an important cultural and economic center for central Texas with a growing Hispanic population and strong business or professional presence.

Burleson is a city in Texas, located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 7,878 at the 2010 census and it is the county seat of Hidalgo County. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The first people to live here were Native Americans who hunted game along the banks of the Colorado River and on its tributaries. In 1836, General Sam Houston decided to make this site his new capital after he won election as President of the United States. He named it for James Bowie, one of his generals in Mexico City during that war and also a native Texan who had fought against Mexican forces there. The town began growing rapidly because railroads arrived in 1881 and brought more people and businesses here from all over America to look for opportunities. By 1910, Burleson had become an important port on the Gulf Coast with warehouses and a wharf serving shipping companies from all over Asia, Europe, and North America. The most famous resident was Jock Mahoney, who played baseball for two teams (the Rangers and Astros) in Arlington before coming to Burleson as a player-manager for both teams in 1951. He later served as mayor from 1964 until his death in 1978; during that time Burleson became known as "The Lone Star City". After Mahoney's death, many other major local figures such as Mayor Roy Price (1976-1981), Judge Roy Bean (1982-1986), former State Representative Don Huffman (1987-1991), Darrell Issa (2002-2006) have held office here including 12th congressional district Congressman Joe Barton (2005-2007). In recent years Burleson has experienced somedecline due to online gambling giantMicrogaming making significant investments here which has led to job losses among local businesses while also resulting in higher taxes paid by residents which have put strain on city coffers; however much like any community size increase or decrease within any given zip code or county these days it can only be said with some reservation that things are slowly improving thanks largely to several initiatives spearheaded by Mayor Price himself such as investment into public transportation which has seen streetcars running regularly through downtown now for almost 10 years despite opposition from leaders within Microgaming about making stops at various strip clubs dotted around town during their promotional events - something actually started but then delayed when those same leaders got wind of what was happening instead trying unsuccessfully to stop burlesON buses going past those venues without stopping).
