After the war, many of the original residents lost their jobs and homes due to post-war reconstruction policies. However, a few people continued to live and work in Burkburnett through this time. Today, there are still a few African American families living in Burkburnett with some descendants continuing to reside here for generations. Many of these families own businesses or have other ties to local culture and history. Additionally, there are also numerous African American heritage museums located throughout Fayette County that provide programming about black history and culture within the area .

During World War II,the city hosted several military encampments before they were relocatedto other parts of Texas or out of country. After the war ended,Burkburnett City regained its prior prosperity thanks to numerous industrialprojects that have been conducted within its boundaries over the years.
