In the early 1800s, Brownwood was a thriving community located in what is now Amarillo. By 1881, however, it had all but disappeared due to conflicts between Mexican and Anglo settlers. However, firearms were still a common tool in local hands and the town's history can be traced back to 1839 when two blacksmiths named John and Jesse Grimes established their trade here. These men were instrumental in helping to spread pistol culture throughout Texas and even into other parts of the United States. Eventually, they became so well-known that they opened their own shop on Main Street in Brownwood – the first such business in Amarillo. The Grimsleys continued to run their business until around 1860 when they moved away for unknown reasons. However, their legacy lives on through their descendants who continue to peddle pistols and shotguns at various events throughout Amarillo and surrounding counties. In addition, many items related to firearms are currently available at the store thanks to its inclusion within the city limits of Amarillo.

Brownwood is a town in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. Brownwood was founded in 1876 by settlers from nearby Fort Worth and it grew rapidly during the late 19th century as a result of its location near railroads and abundant natural resources. The town became an important center for cotton farming in what is now Bastrop County and experienced rapid growth during Prohibition until the early 21st century when industry declined and employment dwindled. However, economic revived Cowtown in neighboring Kyle and other towns surrounding Brownwood during the 2000s decade due to new development, especially within walking distance of many businesses including grocery stores, restaurants, bars, nail salon/repair shop and health care complexes. The history of Brownwood goes back over 160 years to pioneers who arrived on horseback or wagon trains through Baylor & Texas Central Railroad's "Natchez Trace" route from Wichita Falls (then Waco) in 1875. In 1876 pioneer Tom Sims founded what would be known as Sims' Prairie Home Settlement outside present-day Brownwood on land that he had purchased from General Sam Houston shortly after his victory at San Jacinto Heights (now Houston). The settlement soon included two churches – one Congregationalist and one Baptist – several schools – such as Hogg Elementary School which opened December 6, 1876 - two stores - Lubbock Hardware Store No. 2 (later Blacksmiths Lodge #2) on May 8 th , 1886 also operated by Mr Easley - Barnes General Store opened January 10th 1880 - a post office - called 'Hogg' soon followed with mail service coming daily via stagecoach to Harlingen provided by Brazos & Texas Railway Company freight wagons supplementedependently by stages running between Temple Mount Cemetery east of present day Greenville Avenue northeast of town limits carrying interment supplies for Cowboys Graveyard located west of present day Academy Road southwest of town limits Revolutionary War veteran James Bowie moved into this area in 1879 after being discharged from Ulysses S Grant's army at Huntsville Jail north side Baylor College lot located east offpresent day Academy Road where he built first log cabin following instruction given to him by Captain John Tisdale Hogg . A Methodist Episcopal church was erected later that year within sight of current day Main Street Bridge across Trinity River donated largely by Mrs Gertrude Dillard who had been living adjacent to Haskell Female Seminary since 1865 when it closed after serving as Brownsburg Female Institute before relocating to Brownsburg about 25 miles south when it reopened about 1870 she giving rise to today's Patton Avenue name approximately 3/4 mile long named for her husband Colonel George Patton US Brigadier general killed Iraqi forces Dec 7 2003 while leading an attack against Baghdad airfield; youngest person ever awarded White House Medal Of Honor From its foundation until prohibition began enforcement activities were conducted primarily by Constable Wiley Hutchins with occasional help from local deputy sheriffs but much heavy policing done at night pursuant to warrants brought forward based upon information obtained regarding specific criminal activity taking place inside or outside settlements using whatever force necessary including private citizens who acted as informers providing firsthand knowledge about certain individuals or groups they suspected without fear of reprisal

Brownwood is a town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,812 at the 2010 census. Brownwood is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The first settler in what is now Brownwood was James Fenton who arrived in 1837. The present day town was formed by combining five towns that had separate incorporation proceedings: Alvarado (1836), Bowie (1841), Garland (1845), Hutchins (1848), and Phantom Hill (August 3, 1849). The towns were annexed by Dallas on February 17, 1893. The post office was established at Brownwood on October 12, 1876. On May 15, 1907, the name of the town changed to Greenway to honor John D. Rockefeller's donation of $5,000 for a school and gymnasium in Greenway Park near downtownDallas. During World War II service members from Brownwood served as drivers and mechanics for military units based in nearby Fort Worth and Arlington Heights including General Douglas MacArthur's headquarters detachment which operated out of an army camp located east of town on White Oak Lake until it closed down in 1945. In 1954 Brownsville became a city with its own police force which still exists today
Brownwood began as a small frontier settlement in 1827, and rapidly grew into a thriving town. The town developed a strong economy based on agriculture, ranching, and fishing. Brownwood was one of the leading towns in Texas during the early days of statehood. The town was also well known for its local militia organization and for its role in the Texas Revolution. In 1907, Brownwood became part of the new county of Brownsville.
