Gun lights have been in use by the Brownsville Police Department for over fifty years. The first gun light was a small lucite ball with a red and green LED light built into it. This was used to indicate whether or not an officer was on duty. The department also received two blue LED gunsights which were later replaced with the current model handguns. In 1992, the department received their first shooting suspect detection system (SSDS) which helped reduce shootings in the community. The Brownsville Gun Light Museum is a research and education center dedicated to the history of firearms in Brownsville, Texas. It includes a collection of more than 200 firearms from around the world.

Brownsville is a city in the United States located on the Rio Grande. It is the county seat of Hidalgo County, Texas. As of the 2010 census, Brownsville had a population of 127,611. The name "Brownsville" comes from the Spanish word for "blacksmith." In 1836, General Antonio López de Santa Anna founded what was to become Brownsville as a rancho (a grant) in present-day Hidalgo County. The first post office was established in 1837 and became known as San Antonio de la Buena Vista. In 1845, Brownsville became part of Mexico after Texan forces captured it from Mexican troops during the Mexican–American War. The U.S. acquired Brownsville when Congress passed an act to annex Texas on March 16, 1846. The early settlers in present-day Brownsville were mostly Mexicans who arrived overland via New Mexico or California during the 1840s and 1850s en route to their new homes in this area of North America. By 1870, however, Englishman John Harvey had built a sawmill at what is now called Harvey's Mill Road and began exporting lumber to New York City and other cities along the East Coast; by 1880 his mill had become one of largest mills in South Texas with products going to markets all over North America. Harvey's mill also produced bricks for use at brickyards throughout South Texas beginning about 1890; some brickyards still produce bricks today from what was once Brown's Mills Brickyard No 1 on Main Street (now Trinity Avenue). Other early businesses included wagon shops, saddlery stores and flour mills; but most businesses closed by 1920 due to economic reasons such as competition from more modern enterprises or factors such as World War I shortages that caused prices for goods to go up 50%. In 1915 Samuel Morse donated land near where Nueva Ixtapalco School currently stands for use as a public school; construction began that year and students were admitted on October 15th, 1916; operations commenced that fall and remain ongoing to this day (the first high school in BrownsVILLE). On October 10th 1921 voters approved an amended charter which provided for instruction by teachers certified through State Board of Education courses instead of just religious instruction being offered as before; this change set off much controversy among many citizens because many felt that religious instruction should be given equal opportunity with other types of teachings under state control like education (or any type thereof). Three years later on May 14th 1925 local developer A Fenton purchased 2 blocks south of Nueva Ixtapalco School property then used it for subdivisions until 1966 when he sold it back to the government creating Playas del Rio Parklands Open Space Preserve which comprises much of today's downtown area bounded by Houston Street on the north side (west side prior thereto), Constitution Boulevard east/west (north/south border prior thereto), US 90 southbound concurrent with Constitution Boulevard westward - including current site occupied by various businesses - between two large reservoirs: Playas del Rio Creek & Bassett Rd.; within limits are several smaller lakes: Valero Dam Lake & Lytle Creek Lake - Within these limits are several small villages: Boca Chica Village & Rancho Villa Village - These villages formed buffer zones around play areas created primarily through private enterprise activities such as soccer tournaments etc.; today these boundaries are largely unchanged except #5 streets have been changed duplicating those existing opposite respective endpoints Streets contain parkland located therein while original street names still exist within park boundaries

Brownsville, Texas is a small town located in Webb County, Texas. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. Brownsville is the county seat and largest city in Webb County. It is also the home of the University of Texas at Brownsville. The first English settlers arrived in what is now Brownsville in 1836. They were Farmers Giles and John Brown who named their farm after Benjamin Franklin, one of America's Founding fathers. The area that would become Brownsville was part of the Mexican Republic before it became Texas on November 15, 1845. On January 6, 1850, Ulysses S. Grant proclaimed Baylor University as the first university in southern Texas and Brownsville as its capital. In 1865, General Antonio López de Santa Anna surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant at Palo Alto Bridge near San Antonio and all American forces left for Mexico City; this event helped create an Anglo-Mexican divide in Texan society which continues to this day (although there have been some recent efforts to bridge that divide). In 1876, with US intervention looming large in Mexico’s internal affairs following a presidential election victory by General Maximiliano Zapata over Emiliano Zapata Ibarra, Brown’s parents leased land north of downtown from José Avelino Rivera y Costilla for development into what would be known as “the Park District” today—the most developed section of brownsburg north of Interstate 10††*. This region experienced rapid growth from 1880 onward due largely to two factors: Mexican immigration (largely through Juárez Street) and the lack of available water resources behind long brown hills called la Mesa del Riocharán**½*††*. Today there are more than 50 ExxonMobil refinery plants scattered throughoutubb County production has increased almost 20% since 2006 while employment statewide has exploded (+10%). One result has been an increase in crime rates*²*, although this appears not to be significantly impacting economic activity or social stability†³ *. In 1888–89 Rufus Harker purchased 1/4 acre (0.24 ha) east of la Mesa del Riocharán from José Avelino Rivera y Costilla for $15 cash plus 5 acres (2 ha) per year until death provided title deeds were executed on October 26th 1890 – making him one licensed owner representatives elected by landowners formed a Board responsible for developing & maintaining pleasurable park district property boundaries including South Main Street between Broadway & San Pedro Streets bounded North by Summit Avenue then SW by Houston Street extend East along IH 10 South past Rice Road across FM 1463 thence North along FM 1463 past TX 281 West to Temple Place lot just west side Red River established – becoming Corpus Christi Refinery Company *²*, allowing Mexicans accessible shipping terminals without fear thereof **½*†† As appeared earliest plans did not take into account potential cross-border disputes emanating from changes wrought during oil boom years ensuing **½*

Brownsville, Texas was founded in 1859 by James W. Brown and his three brothers as a trading post on the Rio Grande. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the main trade route between Mexico and Central America and its fertile land. By 1870, Brownsville had become an important center of commerce in Southwest Texas. The town was renamed Houston in 1881 after President James K. Polk's inaugural address, in honor of then-Mayor George H. Houston. The city achieved national attention during the Mexican Revolution (1879-1880) when several thousand volunteer Texans fortified Brownsville against Mexican forces with artillery and rifles from nearby Austin. After Mexico's defeat, most of the Texan garrison left for American territory while Houston continued to protect the town until its incorporation into Houston in 1907.
