Brenham, Texas is known for its gun manufacturing and firearm retailers. The city was founded in 1872 by J.D. Brenham and is located in the Houston-Sugar Land metropolitan area. In 1932, the City of Brenham (later renamed to Dallas) annexed Brenham and the surrounding neighborhoods forming what is now called “the Downtown Dallas Area” which included much of downtown Brenham as well as portions of Sam Houston Tollway, Elmendorf Road, and Griffin Road. In 1984, a $5 million dollar donation from then Mayor Ron Kirk led to the creation of the Texas State University – Brenham School of Engineering which continues to provide high-quality education for local students today. Brenham, Texas was the site of a shootout that lasted for hours on December 14, 1903. The event happened when two gunmen opened fire on a group of men who were trying to cross the Rio Grande into Mexico. Three people were killed and six were wounded in the shooting.
Brenham is a town located in the far south-western corner of Texas, about 120 miles east of Dallas. The population was 7,812 at the 2010 census. Brenham is named after General John A. Brenham who fought in the Mexican-American War and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions there. Brenham has been inhabited by Native Americans for over two centuries before European settlement began. The first European to visit Brenham was French trader Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville on July 12, 1719 A.D., when he noted that "a small village lies on an eminence called by them [the Houstons] Bessieres (Big Bills), from whence they derive their name." In 1836, James Bowie founded Bowie Rancho de las Animas west of present day Brenham, which became known as Bowie County in 1841. In 1868, businessman Wm. P. Hull established a mill here which became one of the most famous in Texas and soon became an important producer of cotton Textile mills were developed throughout much of Texas during this time period but it was near Peña Blanca where textile mills such as Southern Pacific Mills were built that are still active today with many employees and visitors alike enjoying crisp cotton threads just outside their door! In 1915, shipbuilder J G Hendrick opened up shop adjacent to what is now Midland Mall and ever since then shipping activities have expanded rapidly all around town! Today’s shipping industry will have even more impact on our community as we move towards containerization – with companies like Lufthansa Airlines being already making plans to base themselves here!

Brenham was renamed Texarkana in 1907 and its population peaked at over 100,000 in 1940. It has since declined, but its culture and history remain important parts of Texans' cultural heritage. The town is located in Travis County, Texas, about 30 miles (48 km) east of Austin and 10 miles (16 km) south of Dallas. It is considered to be the oldest city in Texas. Brenham is also home to the TX State Capitol building, which was built between 1911 and 1913 by architect George W. Davis to serve as the state’s capital from then until Amarillo became the state’s capital in 1923. Brenham’s economy was based on agriculture for most of its history; however, it has become increasingly involved with commerce and industry over time. In 1916, Brenham established itself as one of the first cities to offer public transportation through buses; this led to a rapid growth in trade and commerce within the city limits. Today, Brenham remains an important center for local government development as well as education and research across all sectors of society – including agriculture, manufacturing, health care technology providers and information technology companies – all of which have had a significant impact on its economy throughout its history.
