Borger, who served in the Union army during the American Civil War. In 1907, the state legislature passed a bill designed to annex areas of Comanche County south of Borger. However, because there were no white residents living within this annexation area, the bill did not pass and the land remained part of Comanche County. In 1913, a group of Dutch farmers moved into what is now BorGER today and started to cultivate corn and other vegetables on their property. This new development led to increased trade between America and Europe through mail service that crossed over from Comanche County. It also allowed for more people to live in what is now BorGER; as trade patterns changed so did life in this small town. BorGER experienced its first tornado on November 3rd 1921 when an EF3 Tornado hit the community killing one person and injuring thirteen others. After World War II ended, many veterans returned home from war-torn countries such as Japan and Germany looking for work opportunities in America but found little opportunity because so few businesses welcomed them as employees due to American cultural norms at that time about black Americans working side-by-side with whites. As a result, many African Americans left BorGER for better opportunities in Oklahoma City or Dallas which were much closer to jobs than Comanche County where they would have been needed most if they wanted to succeed economically speaking (Dixon). Throughout its history,borGER has seen many economic changes including: agricultural production increasing from corn to soybeans; industry expanding from manufacturing goods such as automobiles to services like accounting; growth coming from newcomers who came seeking opportunity while maintaining some level of social control over their surroundings; dramatic declines due bothto natural disasters (flooding) as well as human error or malfeasance (crime). One example that comes immediately TO mind is how business districts have shifted throughout its history with less downtown presence generally replaced by strip malls near highway exits/entrances throughout North Texas thanks largelyto Interstate 30 which dramatically divided rural counties into commuting markets without any real center city anchor unlike earlier days when towns spanned entire counties interconnected by main streets (Goodale)."

In 1925, the Borgers donated land to build the first high school in Texas. The school opened in 1927 and soon became known as one of the best in the state. The town also developed a strong economy based on agriculture and small businesses. In 1945, Borger voters passed an ordinance authorizing city government. This led to rapid growth within the city and its surrounding rural areas.
