Borger, Texas is home to the oldest ammunition Manufacturing facility in the United States. The company, Winchester Ammunition Company, was founded in 1876 by John Winchester and Samuel Colt. In 1903, Winchester moved its manufacturing operations from New Haven, Connecticut to Borger. The company continued to produce firearms until 1959 when it merged with Remington Arms Company to form Winchester-Remington Incorporated. In 1994, the company relocated again to its current location in Willacy County near Dallas. Today, Winchester Ammunition Company manufactures a wide range of ammunition products including shot glasses (shotguns and pistols), reloads and beach balls.
