That changed in 1952 when a company by the name of Schmidt & Bender introduced their V-Mount system. This system allowed users to purchase and use extendible scope mounts with their existing telescopes. Despite its initial popularity, Schmidt & Bender's V-Mount system did not become very widespread until later on in the century. The reason behind this is that it required an expensive tool called a vise to attach your telescope to your mount. Bonham is a small town located in Llano County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Bonham was founded in 1881 by farmers James and Martha Bonham. The name comes from a local creek that flowed through the town. The first post office in Bonham opened on April 15, 1881. In 1907, the first school in Bonham was built. A new school was completed in 1928 and became known as "Old Main" School until it burned down in 1984. In 1951,Bonham had its first business license when First National Bank opened up shop there with six employees. In 1957, an industrial park called "Piney Ridge" was developed just east of Bonham along I-35W and FM 2765. This allowed for more than 100 businesses to open up within a radius of . By 1969, Bonham had become one of the most prosperous small towns in central Texas with over 2 churches/synagogues (Congregational and Methodist), 10 banks (3 national chains plus 3 independent banks), 24 taverns/bars/nightclubs (12 downtown & 12 off-downtown locations), 4 high schools (5 elementary & 3 middle schools; 1 high school including a vocational program), 6 stores/factories (5 big box retailers + 3 small commerical distributors) and over 25 homesites within 500 feet of each other.(1) In 2001 -2004 residents voted to secede from Llano County due to budget cuts brought about by then Governor Rick Perry's administration.(2) As a result of this decision - citizens no longer have representation on city councils or Equal Justice Initiative lawsuits against local jails.) Budget cuts also caused significant job losses throughout the community which began to surface during Mayor Ed Gonzalez's term as mayor beginning in 2007.(3) However starting during Gonzalez's final year as mayor - development has resumed with several new businesses moving into the area including two restaurants(4)and another four retail stores all announced since he took office.(5) Overall since 2007 - bonHAM has seen some good economic news coming out of their recession while many members are still struggling economically today because they can't control what happens outside their walls

Bonham was founded by Jacob Bonham in 1836. The town was named for General James H. Bonham, who fought with Ulysses S. Grant during the American Civil War. The town grew rapidly after it became a stop on the Santa Fe Trail and soon had a population of over 100 people. In 1868, the town renamed itself to Austin and developed into one of the most important rail towns in Texas. By 1910, Austin had become the largest city in Texas and Bonham slowly lost its importance as a railroad hub. However, despite its decline, Austin still retains some of its historical legacy such as the first public library in Texas and the Cotton Bowl Memorial Stadium which is home to both the Longhorns football team and American Athletic Conference (AAC) basketball teams.
Bonham County was organized on December 3, 1875, from part of Medina County. The county seat was Bonham. The Texas Railroad Commission approved the first track in the county on November 30, 1879. The first train arrived in town on December 2. The first store in the county opened on January 1, 1880. In 1895, a post office was established at Tomball. In 1907, a school district was formed and the present-day Bonham City School District was created out of it. On February 21, 1912, the name of the county changed to Webb County after Representative James Webb (D-Texarkana).
