In the early 1900s, cotton was the main crop in Bonham. The local mill owners imported a large amount of these machines from England to process this type of cotton. By 1925, the number of boll weavers in Bonham had increased to over 90%.
Bonham is a town in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,865 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest community in McLennan County by population size. The community has a post office and two churches. Bonham was named after General John C. Bonham, Jr., who fought in the American Civil War and later served as lieutenant governor of Texas. The first settler in what is now Bonham was Tom Hardwick on November 20, 1875. A post office called "Bonham" was established in 1879; it was discontinued in 1912 due to lack of customers. A new post office named "McLennan" opened on October 14, 1907; it remained open until 1959. As per the US Census Bureaus listing for 2000: According to the 2010 census, 2,543 people live within an area consisting of just over 6 square miles (16 km2). This includes 954 housing units or 45% of all dwellings therein; 5 businesses are located within one half mile (1 km2) of school bus stops serving students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12th grade throughout McLennan County; 8 out of 10 acres (30 ha) surrounding the town are farmland with no buildings upon it save for a few hundred pieces of farm equipment used for hay production year round... Bordering Oil Creek to its east and south and Lake Worth Boulevard to its westonym- McNiven Road- residents have access to limited employment opportunities as most jobs are located east or north of I-10 but industries that exist include manufacturing/transportation/agriculture which contribute $3 million annually to local economy

Bonham, Texas is located in the U.S. state of Texas and has a population of just over 8,000 people. The town was founded by two brothers, John and James Bonham, in 1881. It was named after General Sam Houston who fought in the Mexican-American War and later became president of Mexico. The Bonham post office opened in 1882 and remained open until it was discontinued in 1969. The first store in the town was called The General Store and served as a general store for the area until it closed in 1929. Most of what is known about the early history of Bonham comes from oral tradition or local historians who have written extensively about it since then. The first settler to arrive in Bonham County was John Waddell who arrived there around 1849. He built a cabin on an old ranch that he had acquired near present-day Lubbockville. By 1860, Waddell had married Sarah Jane Woods and started a family with her. They farmed land around present-day Lubbockville for several years before settling down at their current location near Rice Lake Road and US 83 on November 1, 1861 (present day Saturday). When Texas seceded from Mexico on February 2, 1865, Waddell voted to stay within the new United States because he felt that annexation would be beneficial to his business interests along US 83 north of Lubbockville; however, his wife chose to move away with their children to live with her brother David Barron at San Angelo (where they eventually raised six children). On May 16th 1870 Samuel Chapman came into English County from Missouri via Clear Fork River Valley country west of Globe City; this man claimed 160 acres south east of Rice Lake Road where he platted what is now known as Chapman’s Landing on December 17th 1870 which included part of present day Bonham County including parts now belonging to Lubbockville In 1880 JM [John] McAllister claims 3 square miles northeast corner Happy Camp Creek between Happy Camp Creek & Little Buffalo Bayou which includes today’s site Ofcord Gulch near mile marker 10 on IH 35 killin’ Deer Branch road some 9 miles south east Johnson City
Bonham was founded by John C. Bonham in 1849, and became a town in 1851. The first post office was opened in Bonham in 1852. The first store was built in Bonham in 1865. In 1903, the town incorporated as a city and has since grown to include over 20 businesses.
