Bonham, Texas is located in the heart of the Lone Star State and has been a center for gun culture for over 100 years. The city was founded by cattle ranchers in 1881 and became a major center for firearms production in the late 1800s. Gun targets have been a popular activity in the city since before World War I. During the 1920s, gunslingers and other firearm enthusiasts from around the country came to Bonham to shoot at local rifle ranges.Gun Targets- A History In Bonham started as an early 20th century rifle range located on Main Street just outside of town. In 1915, local businessmen, J.G. “Doc” Hammond and W.C. Barnes bought land east of town on FM 624 for a pistol range that would become known as The Arsenal Range (later The Rifle Range). Owned by Doc Hammond until his death in 1954 it was still one of the largest handgun ranges west of Kansas City when it opened its doors to shooters from all over America during those early days of GUN TARGETS history! The Pistol Range quickly became known throughout central Texas as one of the premier shooting locations for pistols and revolvers during those days! It remained open until 1951 when it closed due to lack of business opportunity within what had becomeBonham’s only industry! However, GUN TARGETS history does not end here- after The Arsenal Range Closed down, another prominent firearms manufacturer took up residence adjacent to where FM 620 crossed County Road 12F which served as THE RANGE LINES main feeder road into downtown Bonham- this Manufacturer being George Sisko Firearms Company Incorporated!. This new proprietorship would remain active until 1984 when they were forced out by federal ownership resulting in their closure along with many other small arms manufacturing businesses throughout TX that were nationalized during that time period!! Today there are severalgun target ranges operating within or adjacent to downtown Bonham including: The Armory Shooting Complex (opened 2009), Shooters Club Western Texas (opened 2012), Heritage Arms & Ammunition Outfitters (opened 2013) upstairs at 501 E Houston St., Century 21 Shotgun Park( reopened 2016) across from Haggard's grocery store on Commerce Street next door to Barnett Airpark south side near US Highway 281 entrance, AmmoLandsportsmancenter( Opened 2019) & Gun Planet(Opened 2020)! These various ranges offer different types of targets difficulty level ranging from 2 yards up through 10 yards with multiple objectives available; however all offer opportunities for individuals & groups alike to experience GUN TARGETS history right here in town !!

In 1853, the first gun battle took place in Bonham when two Confederate forces fought against a band of Texans. In 1861, the Union forces attacked Confederate General James Longstreet's brigade and lost three cannons. On July 21st, 1881, a Thornton man named Johnnie Walker shot and killed five people at a posse celebration near what is now Waco. The event became known as the "Waco Massacre."

Bonham is a town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,835 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and is included in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of the American South. The first people to live in what would become Bonham were members of the Comanche tribe who had been living there for many years before that. In 1872, Spanish colonists from Mexico arrived and began ranching near what would become Bonham. By 1888, it was known as "Rancho Viejo" and contained about 100 acres (40 hectares). In 1905, Billy Bonham founded a grocery store in town which grew into a major item on local shopping lists. In 1916, he became one of the incorporators of Cameron County when it was created from parts of Denton and Tarrant counties. In 1942, during World War II, Bonham was hit by an air raid that destroyed most of their homes including his grocery store but he refused to leave his home until all his family were safe. He died two days later while saving them from another air raid. Since then, much has changed withinBonham both good and bad; however much has remained constant such as its location just outsideDallas/Fort Worth making it an ideal place to raise families or start businesses since so many companies have their headquarters here including Raytheon Missile Systems Company as well as several other high-tech companies like Dell Computer and Lockheed Martin F-117A Phantom jets production line manufacturing Advanced Tactical Airborne Vehicles under development at nearby Arlington International Airport - which also hosts dozens of concerts each year with thousands more visitors annually!
Bonham was founded in 1836 by James Bonham and his wife, Sarah. The town was originally called "Benton" after General Nathaniel Benton, the owner of a nearby ranch. In 1887, the town name was changed to honor William McKinley, the 20th president of the United States. The population of Bonham peaked at around 10,000 in 1920 but declined rapidly following World War II. The town's only remaining business is the dairy that operates on its own property today.
