Bonham was founded in 1848 by John H. Bonham, a Scottish-born settler who arrived in the area with his family. In 1875, the town had a population of about 100 people. By 1907, the population had grown to 1,000 people and it became an incorporated city in 1923. The city's economy was based on agriculture until the 1950s when it began to diversify into other sectors including manufacturing, transportation and service businesses. The City of Bonham is home to both the Texas State University and Lamar University campuses.
Bonham is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,865 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hudspeth County. The town was founded in 1881 by Colonel George R. Bonham and his brother-in-law, Major James W. Hogg. The first post office was established in 1881, and the first store opened in 1883. In 1886, a school system was organized with twenty students and one teacher; the first building was a log cabin used as a classroom. A new school building was constructed in 1903 using money from an oil well sanctioned by President John Fenton Hughes. In 1907, an express train derailed on the tracks near the town; four people were killed and forty-four were injured when their car overturned while stopped at a switch outside of town. The derailment has been cited as one of the most tragic events to affect Bonham since its founding. A new express train station was built on Highway 5 near Bonham in 1963 to improve access to local businesses and commuters travelling through Hudspeth County; it served as both the primary transportation hub for Bonham residents and as a vital link between larger towns such as Corpus Christi and Beaumont (via I-10). In 1984, Bonham became home to America's first "smart" airport when Reagan National Airport opened nearby; all domestic flights departing from Reagan National Airport now use terminals located within easy walking distance of downtown BonHAMtOWN! BonHAMtOWN is anchor city for American Airlines' Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex serving over 40 million passengers annually with more than 12 million employees nationwide! Downtown has become known for its vibrant arts scene which includes several award winning galleries including PNC Bank Arts Center & Dallas Museum of Art - two anchors along Main Street - popular restaurants like Iron Chef Mattress & Coffee House Grill( adjacent to PNC)and Barnes & Noble Bookstore

Bonham is a small town in Texas, located in the Refugio County seat of Lubbock. The population was 1,362 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Refugio County and has been since 1907. The name comes from John Bonham, a pioneer settler who arrived in 1836. The first post office was established in 1835. The community developed around two railroad stations which served as its main attractions for residents and travelers alike: the Lubbock Station on the Union Pacific Railroad (now part of an Amtrak line) and the Beaumont Station on Rio Grande Railway. A number of businesses were established within Bonham during its early years, including a blacksmith shop, a grocery store, and a hotel/motel. The first school was built in Bonham in 1838 and it served as both an elementary school and high school until 1957 when it became known as Lone Star Elementary School. In 1907, Bonham incorporation formed with Waco to become the county seat; however, this arrangement ended after only one year due to low population growth throughout Refugio County combined with Waco's ownership of land east of Lubbock that would have given them an unfair advantage overBonham's citizens. A new courthouse was built in 1912 by local architect J H Weckerstedt; it eventually fell into disrepair and was razed to make way for Interstate 20 shortly before its construction began in 1969). A municipally-owned water system providing service to the town began operations in 1915; it continued operation until 1989 when it was taken over by Rio Grande Valley Utilities Corporation (RGVU). In 1925,Refugio Community College opened up shop here; however this facility closed down circa 2006 due lack of students or space on campus. In recent years various businesses have cropped up around Bonham such as Outpost BBQ & Grill which opened up shop here back in 2007; also there is now another business called "H appy Pizza" inside what used to be simply called "Pizza Place". Finally there is also currently being constructed a brand new shopping mall just outside town center called "Town Center".
Bonham was founded in 1879 by J.C. Bonham and his wife, Carrie Ann. The town grew rapidly after the discovery of oil in nearby shale fields, and by 1907 it had a population of 2,500. The city limits were expanded in 1911 to include the towns of Midland and Rocksville, which merged into Bonham in 1917. In 1962, the city limits were again enlarged to encompass neighboring Fort Worth.
