A few years later, a gunsmith opened his own shop in town and began selling firearms. By 1916, there were over 100 citizens in town who owned pistols or shotguns.

Boerne is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 20,521 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Tarrant County after Fort Worth. The name "Boerne" comes from Dutch and means "place of the buffalo." The first people to live in what is now Boerne were the Wichita people who arrived around 1849. They camped near what is now downtown Boerne on the Brazos River. A fort was built by Captain James Bowie in 1851 and named Fort Bowie after himself. The Wichita people moved out of Boerne around 1870 because of all the fighting between settlers and Native Americans along the Rio Grande (now known as I-35). In 1886, when Texas became a state, it included parts of both Tarrant and Comal counties. In 1889, part of Comal County was annexed into Tarrant County and its capital changed from Wichita to Boerne. In 1911, during World War 1, much of eastern Comal County (between Wichita andFort Worth) became part of Army Bases Camp Beaumont–Port Arthur which housed millions of troops across America until 1945. After World War II many businesses closed down due to competition from steel mills located elsewhere in TX or abroad; however some businesses such as JB Hi-Fi still operate today in downtown Boerne on Main Street. On December 12th 1861 an act was passed by the Texas Legislature authorising military occupation of Mexican territory east of San Antonio by Ulysses S Grant’s forces under General John Fenton with orders to disarm any resistance promptly followed by peaceful removal without violence if no resistance could be found within 30 days or else war would commence “against all who should resist us” This order caused great alarm among Texans because they believed that this action would lead to another Mexican Civil War like thatwhich had taken place just two years earlier at Emancipation Park south of Austin with 43 dead including 11 Texans killed by Confederate cavalry units led by General Braxton Bragg; subsequent investigations revealed that Grant only wanted to remove Mexican resistance fighters not arm them so war would not break out again . Aftermath: On October 10th 1862 Brigadier General Edwin Mifflin ordered all citizens over 21 years old who lived within 3 miles (5 km)of any military installation or arsenal subject to our laws for military service without providing justification or exemption from service were drafted into our army for three months with no food or shelter provided their families had to leave home behind also all male citizens between 18 & 24 years old were required either serve immediately or go through a three day process where they could choose either work on farms picking crops for soldiers living off government rations OR become militia members fulfilling one half quota depending on community size while women received a single child born free & unincorporated within 3 miles (5 km), educationally trained women were allowed to stay home but unable vote nor own property outside their homes
In 1836, the Texas Revolution began when Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna attempted to seize control of Texas. A group of Texans, including Sam Houston, fought back and drove Santa Anna out of the state. After the battle, Texan militias formed to support Houston's war effort. The militias were known as "The United States Rangers" and were eventually disbanded in 1845 after their activities became public knowledge.
