On July 1, 2011, Boerne adopted its current mayor/council form with Mayor Mark Menchaca as its first leader. The population of Boerne was 97 percent white when it became a city limits municipality in 1907 and has since become majority Hispanic or Latino with no black residents (as of 2016). The history of Boerne can be traced back to 1879 when Colonel John S. Bowen and his family founded Fort Stockton as a ranch town named for their cattle station in present day Fort Worthshire near what is now downtown Dallas. This location would later become home to several other businesses such as Wernham’s houseless shelter which operated from 1909 until 1924; Pemberton Hats & Clothing store operated from 1911 until 1925; Barker’s grocery store opened in 1913; Humble Oil Company drilled oil wells at Ft Stockton between 1916 and 1919; gambling houses were also popular among Texans during this time period including White Sands Casino Corporation which opened on January 15th 1912 near what is now downtown Irving; Cadet Hotel was constructed on October 15th 1889 at 4200 Elm Street which served as both a military barracks for US Cavalry stationed here prior to World War I before eventually becoming an hotel known today for its extensive collection of art pieces dating back over 150 years including some original pieces featured inside former Commandant General James Mclntyre’s Mansion within walking distance of today’s main business district – all while stillserving its original purpose as an officers mess! With such rich historical background there are many items that can be found throughout the cityscape that date back centuries like Lee Stroud House Museum displaying examples from 1865-1936 which originally housed Confederate General Arthur Shelby’s personal library ; Spanish Missions National Monument dating back over 100 years with extant Mission San José de Atascosaan ruins located just east of downtown Boern e dated back even further buried under sand till 1901 ; Presidio San Antonio de la Victoria built along Utopia Creek outside Austin in 1776 Native American artifacts include well over 100 arrowheads unearthed at Rancho Santa Anna located off FM 727 just north of today's intersection between LBJ Freeway exit #1A (Exit 176) & Texas State Highway 281 exit #2B (Exit 174), these sites forming part of Judge Roy Bean Federal Courthouse Complex currently being renovated & open daily 9am-5pm pursuant: Monday thru Saturday 9am-4pm & Sunday 10am-3pm - admission free however closed Mondays duevarious construction activities taking place adjacent courthouse complex currently preventing access ); various Zocalo shopping centers located throughout DowntownDallas containing numerous Mexican restaurants/stores scattered throughout each mall area serving up authentic Tex-Mex cuisine - most notable being Al Pastor Gomez restaurant situated within privately owned Old Town Hall building next door featuring scenic outdoor patio overlooking Magnolia Avenue across Houston Street - open 24 hours per day year round!

The republic grew to include a territory that included parts of today's Mexico and Texans fought in what is known as the Mexican-American War. In 1848, Texas became an independent country with its own government and flag. The first state constitution was ratified in 1858. In 1861, when Confederate forces invaded Texas, the Union army drove them out and Texas became a part of the United States of America.
