The first white residents of what is now Boerne were Nathan Smith and his family who arrived here from Missouri on October 10th, 1881. They set up a cabin on the east side of town near present-day Slaughter Park Road. From this location they watched over their land and started planting crops which yielded goods enough for sale to generate some revenue to support themselves and their families. By 1886 they had built a home located just west of downtown onpresent-day Victoria Avenue between 9th Street Nandor Chavez Boulevard (now IH 35)and 10th Street NW near Slaughter Park Road

Fort Worth became an American city on February 2, 1876 when it joined with Arlington to become one of its eight original counties. The first post office was established in Boerne on October 15, 1886. In 1902 the name of the town changed to honor General James Longstreet (1824-1902). He led Confederate troops duringthe Mexican-American War and later served as acting governor of Texas from 1901 to 1902 under McKinley’s presidency. In 1907 Boerne began receive mail via mule because there were no horses or wagons available for delivery at that time. The first bus service arrived in 1909. That same year saw the opening of one of America’s largest markets when Eli Lilly and Company built their plant there which produced generics such as ibuprofen and aspirin until 2003 when they moved to Indianapolis Indiana after being acquired by Pfizer Incorporated . In 1912 one acre (0 hectare) were proposed for annexation by Fort Worth but this was not accepted due to lack of support from residents within Boerne itself as well as from Fort Worth mayor Wm Hargrave who opposed annexing any smaller municipality within his city limits even if it did not have a vote cast against it at a Town Meeting held two weeks prior thereto! On July 1st 1916 General John J Pershing delivered remarks at a dinner honoring then Commandant Damon “Jock” Nichols who had recently been installed commandant of the 3rd Infantry Regiment stationed at Ft Sill Oklahoma Territory during World War I having previously served with distinction with both Regular Army units and cavalry while he commanded elements mounted along side Ulysses S Grant & Sherman during their march across Mexico City in April 1915 which eventually resulted in peace negotiations ending with Chapultepec Castle becoming Mexican territory thereby preventing Ulysses S Grant from entering that city hence giving rise to legend has it! During World War II Boerne became home to two Air Forces Bomber Commands; Third Air Force Station Conroe / San Antonio AFB(1943), Eighth Air Force Base McAllen / Edinburg(1945) after flying B-29 Superfortress strategic bombers over Japan primarily targeting Osaka Tower airfield where Japanese Emperor Hirohito had been hiding since September 1944 following his surrender announcement made public just days prior! However all bomber operations ceased on August 14th 1945 due various factors including mandatory restrictions placed upon USAF nuclear weapons development effective that date making Japanuninhabitable!! Although still housing some USAF personnel assigned there through early 1946 most buildings have been razed or replaced since then! Following World War II manynew businesses opened up throughout central Texas resulting in some significant economic development although much remains unchanged today about those years long ago!!! Today almost everyone living within walking distanceofhome owns their own home either outright or through some form OFamily Owned Home Development company while most people continue working downtown providing sorely needed jobs!!!!
Boerne was founded in 1836 by the Dutch and English settlers. The town grew quickly, becoming a center for cattle and cotton production. Boerne became a city in 1907, when it amalgamated with neighboring New Braunfels.
