Benbrook, Texas is a town in Denton County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,953 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Benbrook post office was established on March 4, 1872, and closed on December 15, 1951. The first settler in what is now Benbrook was Orville Bancroft. He came to the area in 1851 with his family and began ranching operations near present-day Benbrook. In 1871 Jacob Bakewell started a flour mill in what is now Benbrook and soon became one of the leading grain merchants in the region. In 1907 an additional grocery store was added to Benbrook's lineup; this store continued to be operational until it burned down in 1969. On April 6, 1959, local resident Elmer "Butch" Kriegel set up a small independent gas station at US 287 and FM 1960 outside of town limits as an experiment in using self-reliance to spur economic development within town limits rather than rely on larger centers for services such as retail or transportation. The station served as a community center for many years before it was destroyed by fire in 1985. Today there are only two buildings remaining from that original gas station: one still stands as a museum inside of town limits (the other has been replaced by a home). Overall it remains one of the most significant expressions of self-reliantism ever seen within these boundaries - another example of how natural resources have helped fuel growth throughout much of Denton County during its history!

Benbrook is a town in Grand Prairie County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Benbrook was founded in 1881 by two railroad men named James and Hiram Benbrook. It became an incorporated municipality in 1907. The Benbrook Railroad Depot is still extant and is now used as a museum. The first settler to arrive in what is now Benbrook was James Benbrook who landed there on November 26, 1881 with his son Hiram. James had come from New York City on the Erie Canal and himself had several thousand acres of land purchased along the way including parts of present-day Grand Prairie County. The townsite that would be located at the intersection of State Highway 287 (now I-635) and FM 527 was given to James by Governor Midleton Barnes during the original incorporation of Grand Prairie County on December 3, 1907. As early as 1886, members of the Methodist Episcopal Church were meeting in what would become known as "The Meeting House" near present day Buffalo Gap Road/Upper Loop Road east of town when they decided to move their services to what would become then known as "Benbrook." On July 15th 1888, Benjamin Fenton donated one acre of land southwest corner of Uptown Drive/State Highway 287 for $100 cashmoney which became known as "Fenton's Corner." In 1893 it was determined that due to increased population growth there wasn't enough room for all the churches within the newly formed county so ownership changed hands among various denominations until 1899 when it reverted back to Methodist Episcopal control with new trustees under leadership including Reverend Drury Younker who served until 1915 when he resigned after experiencing health problems related thereto. After his death on October 8th 1915 Mrs Younker took over governance until 1923 when Rev Ransom Hinton assuming office after her death leaving Mrs Hinton's widow administrator continuing function until her own death on January 12th 1933 leaving remaining trustees John Duntzinger (1933-1935), Harry Lampkin (1936-1939), Clarence Weems (1945-1947) and Rollin Wootson Jr.(1950-1955). In 1955 Wootson succeeded Lampkin becoming sole trustee effective January 1st 1956 having been elected unopposed by those appointed previously plus Burnet School District trustee Hadden Sibley serving concurrently through out their tenure lasting until May 30th 1959 upon which date Wootson resigned effective June 30th 1959 effective immediately upon learning he has cancerous tumors spread throughout his body resulting in his removal from office effective September 30th 1959 marking end of Town Council operations also concluding fifty years since its founding! During World War II many local farmers enlisted or volunteered for military service providing some seeing duty with three different commands: First Infantry Division stationed near Dallas; Second Infantry Division quartered at Fort Worth; Ninth Cavalry Regiment stationed at El Campo barracks north Richland Hills area while other residents worked construction sites nearby such as powerhouse plant batteries south central part of town coming home only once or twice a week on active duty during hostilities! As mentioned before much later during various township meetings speeches were made regarding plans or ideas floated concerning future endeavors such as annexing other adjacent Comanches County communities but never executed without further discussion following original incorporations laws which stipulated no annexation without written consent from opposite party represented thereby preserving borderline character & identity quo vadis!! Today much like then ben brook texas history great people have passed away most notably reverend drury younker who chaired town council for fifty years
Benbrook was founded in 1892 by George Benbrook and his wife, Lillie. The Benbrooks were farmers who grew corn, beans, and other crops. They started a post office in 1897 and a bank in 1899. In 1912, the Benbrooks bought land north of town to build what is now the community of North Bend. The Benbrooks were also the first people to establish a school in Benbrook.
