In 1911, George Brown developed a new type of gun swivel that allowed quick change of aim without having to remove or replace the magazine. Benbrook is a town in San Antonio County, Texas, United States. The population was 10,594 at the 2010 census. Benbrook is located on the Tarrant County line. The first Europeans to arrive in this area were French and Spanish traders from what is now Quebec City in Canada who set up trading posts along the Sabine River in 1718-1719. A post office called "Bellefontaine" was established in 1836 by Wm. H. Benbrook, an early settler andGeneral Store Manager with interests extending into New Mexico Territory and Mexican State of Coahuila y Tejas (Today Webb County, Texas). In 1876, settlers started arriving from Arkansas Valley east of Dallas; they named their new community Benbrook after Wm. Hays Benbrook, their leader and first storekeeper thereabouts. In 1907 Elihu Root opened a small grocery store on Main Street that became one of the most successful stores open during that time period due to its wide variety of products offered including canned goods, candy bars, cigarettes and other tobacco items not found elsewhere for a price competitive with other stores at that time such as Sam’s Club locations across the state or even locally owned physical stores like those operated by John Davenport & Brothers near downtown Dallas which had been around since 1870 when Dallas began as an American city! In 1961 local entrepreneur Gail Wilcox opened her own general store adjoining Root's business before it closed operations due to illness of owner Elihu Root some 20 years later; Gail Wilcox remains recognized as one ofTexas' pioneer female entrepreneurs! By 1990 total retail sales had reached $1 billion with over 1 million employees!!! Today Benbrook continues to be one ofTexas' " Fastest Growing Towns" while still embodying its cowboy heritage thru its annual rodeo calf roundup!

Benbrook is a small town located in the Williamson County, Texas, area. It was founded by Obadiah Benbrook in 1875. The community is named for Benbrook's father-in-law, John W. Baylor. According to the 2010 census, the population of Benbrook was 1,821. The first post office in Benbrook was established on February 14, 1875. The name of the town changed from "Benton" to "Benbrook" on October 12 of that year. On November 2, 1880, a school and store were opened in what is now Benbrook. The first black person to live in Benbrook was Fannie Lou Hamer who arrived on October 10 of that year with her family from Meridianville, Alabama. In 1903, a cotton gin and two other businesses were built in what is now downtown Benbrook. In 1906 an oil refinery and four others were built in the village center; these businesses have since closed down or been replaced by newer ones. By 1914 there were seven stores and three restaurants operating in downtownBenbrook; however, all but one of these closed within five years due to competition from larger towns such as Garland or Wichita Falls which had earlier developed around them. In 1953 an elementary school was built adjacent to the high school which served students from kindergarten through eighth grade until 1978 when it became part of Allendale High School; then it served Chambers County students until 1984 when it became part of Tomball Adventist Academy (TAA). In 1995 TAA merged with Keller Junior High School so that all Tomball junior high students would attend TAA even though their families resided elsewhere within Chambers County proper; this change also affected older grades housed at Keller until 2002 when they too merged into Tomball Adventist Academy (TAA). DowntownBenbrook experienced some major development during the late 1960s and early 1970s known as "The Town Boom". This phase saw construction of new homes along US Highway 287 including several thousand units called "Eagle Hills", as well as additions to several churches and other infrastructure projects completed during this time period across much of Williamson County including Parkway Mall/Target Center/Hobby Lobby/, ExxonMobil Refinery Complex/Texas Instruments Plant/Mallory Towers/, etc.). One notable project not typically associated with local boosters such as Obadiah Benjamin but nonetheless highly significant given its impact upon BEN Brook's future included plans for widening US 287 between Shapiro Road eastward and Interstate 35W westward – ultimately resulting in increased traffic congestion throughout much of central Williamson County while concurrently causing dramatic increases both in property values & retail occupancy rates among existing buildings & developments near highway 287)
Benbrook was founded in 1874 as an agricultural community on the banks of the Brazos River. It grew rapidly, becoming one of the largest towns in Texas. In 1919, Benbrook became a city and has continued to grow since then.
