Belton, Texas is a small town located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of north Texas. It was named after John C. Belton, an early settler. The first school in the town was built in 1871 and the first post office was established in 1872. The community boasted a population of only 100 people when it became an incorporated municipality in 1907. Belton has seen many changes over the years, most notably its merger with Arlington (a neighboring community) to form Arlington Heights in 1959. Over time, Belton has become known for its scopes industry, which has grown significantly since 1990 when Belton First Place Scopes opened its doors to the public as part of the Arlington Heights Museum District. This museum features more than 50 scopes from around the world and offers educational programs on telescope history and use. The history of Belton's scopes industry can be traced back to 1871 when John C. Belton founded what is now called “BelTON Optical Workshops” on his farm near present day Arlington Heights, TX. At that time, optical equipment was only available to those who could afford it and this simple wooden workshop served as a prototype for later electronics and computer repair shops across America. In 1907, following incorporation into Arlington Heights by vote of residents, BELTON CITY SCOPE SCHOOL No 1 moved from its original location on Dogpatch Road to new quarters at 301 N Stonewall Street within sight of BELTON City Hall (now home to Goudreau Elementary School). With just 100 residents living in Belton at that time, instruction began at BELTON CITY SCOPE SCHOOL No 1 through 12th grades with additional classes offered during weekdays for adults who wished to attend; such courses were held out of school hours until 1925 when evening classes were introduced due to increased demand for education within these limited resources! In 1959, following annexation by Arlington Heights of adjacent property adjoining Pease Boulevard which included much older buildings used by military personnel barracks during World War II (!), BELTON FIRST PLACE SCOPESopened its doors as one more tool shed addition in what would become an increasingly bustling commercial district surrounding ARLINGTON HEIGHTSMUSEUM DISTRICT (AHD). Homegrown entrepreneurs still ran this family-owned business through their offspring until 1985 when they retired after 35 years - making belmont one of THE LAST OPERATING FAMILIES IN TEXAS IN BUSINESS OF OPTICAL EQUIPMENT! That same year saw another major milestone for belmond: THE OPENING OF OUR OWN MUSEUM WITH AN INTERESTING SELECTION OF AMERICAN AND EUROPEAN OLD GLASS TOY DISPLAYS FROM OUR COLLECTION! In 1951, voters approved raising money for a water system which would bring water service to all residents within 2 miles (3 km)of their homes thereby making them single taxpayers instead of propertyowners/farmers who paid taxes only on their landowning assets plus service charges on what they used locally generated electricity

All of these advancements made it possible for scientists to develop more accurate maps of the world and better understand how it works inside and outside of our planet Earth.

In 1923, Belton became an ordinance-making town, which allowed for more independent development within its boundaries. Belton's population peaked at around 2,500 people in 1940 before gradually declining over time. Today, the population of Belton is estimated to be less than 100 people. The community has experienced several surges in popularity over the years due to events such as World War II or baseball games between Austin and Houston teams. Belton has a rich history that can be traced back to when it was established as a small German immigrant settlement near what is now downtown Austin. The area that now makes up Belton was originally inhabited by Native American tribes who called it Pecos County according to one source. Another source claims that this area had been occupied for centuries by various groups including Mayans and Chichimecas before arriving at what is now Belton on July 3rd 1881 by two families from Germany: The Vogels and Fritzes. It wasn't until 1840 that Texas achieved statehood, which made Belmont an unincorporated community within Travis County under the jurisdiction of Austin however it continued to maintain some degree of autonomy due to its size and isolated location compared to other areas within Travis County specifically those located north-west around Richmond Hill and east around Georgetown University Park despite being considered part of Austin proper only since 1880 census results show that there were residents living in both Richmond Hill (which would later becomeAustin)and Georgetown University Park (later renamed “Belmont” after incorporation).
