Belton is a small town in central Texas, located about thirty-five miles south of Austin. The population was 9,671 at the 2010 census. Belton's history can be traced back to 1881 when a man named W.H. Decker started a shooting range in what is now the town square. In 1912, another man by the name of Clements opened a store in the square and soon began to sell target holders for use during gun shoots. In 1916, Belton had its first post office and that same year saw the opening of an armory on First Street. It wasn't until 1949 that Belton established its own school system which still operates today. In 1957,belton hosted its first international shoot at the nearby Hickory Hills Rifle Club where American shooters faced off against their counterparts from Great Britain and Australia. From 1959-1963, Belton hosted both annual legislative meetings as well as state fairs which drew nearly 100,000 spectators each time! In 1984, one of beltoons most famous residents joined forces with his friend Bob Denton to open Range West Gun Shop & Shooters Supply which soon became one of the largest rifle stores in Texas. At this point in time, Range West Gun Shop & Supply had become home to over 100 firearms dealers as well as NRA member Jim Demarest who helped contribute significantly to firearm regulation within our state! This success led RangeWest Gun Shop & Supply into new heights when it merged with other dealer interests including Lowndes County Sporting Goods Company in 1998 creating what would eventually become North Side Sporting Goods! This merger allowed us to expand our inventory by 50% while also adding hundreds of additional customers each week! Today we continue serving our community through online sales and direct interactions with customers face-to-face!

In 1941 most of the remaining businesses were destroyed by a fire that burned for days in downtown Belton. Despite this setback, Belton continued to grow with new development such as the construction of the Beltran-Munoz Dam in 1951 and Monterey Bay Aquarium in 1978. Today,BelTON has a population over 14K and is home to several major corporations including ExxonMobil (ExxonMobilTex), Lockheed Martin ( LockheedMartinTex), BP (BPTex), Concho Radio Communications Inc., Wells Fargo Bank (Wells FargoBankTex).
