Belton is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas located about eighty miles east of Dallas. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. Belton has been inhabited by Native Americans for over two hundred years. The first white settlers arrived in 1851 and built a cabin on the current site of Belton High School. In 1855, James Gifford donated land to build a school. That same year, John Pemberton founded the Kenedy Post Office here and named it for himself, James Gifford Pemberton. In 1870, Wm Hite erected a store and post office on what is now Easley Road. A few years later he added an additional building which served as the courthouse until 1907. In 1912, vestryman Jno Couch bought land from Jno Bigham to form present-day Belton Township (later renamed Belton). In 1916, local dairy farmer Claude Fenton purchased 2 acres adjacent to his farmstead and platted it into town center with one block of buildings called “Fenton” still standing today along Easley Road near downtown. By 1922 all but one street in town had been surveyed and streets were laid out including Third Street which became Main Street in 1924 when Belmont Cemetery was established nearby on that property; Fourth Street was added in 1927 when First Baptist Church moved from its original location across Howell Avenue from School District No 9 to what is now Fourth Street between Center Boulevard and I-10 West; Fifth Street was added in 1929 when Second Baptist Church relocated from its original location across South Union Avenue from School District No 9 to what is now Fourth Street between Center Boulevard and I-10 West; SixthStreet was added in 1935 when Methodist Episcopal Church relocated from its original location across North Union Avenue from School District No 9 to what is now Main Streets between Center Boulevard and I-10 West; SeventhStreet was added in 1937 when First PresbyterianChurch relocated from its original location across East Union Avenuefrom School District No 9to what is now EighthStreet between Center Boulevardand I-10West; EighthStreet became known as Main Streets after World War II when most businesses moved away or were converted into apartment buildings due to wartime rationing affecting civilian goods such as glassware etc.; The post office closed 1963 but continued operation until 1971 as the first community center west of Dallas opened here under name “First United Methodist church” operated by members of that church until 1984 following merger with other denominations within Tarrant County Synodical Bishopric headquartered at Arlington Heights TX Belton also hosted a fair each July since 1893 which attracted vendors both north/south Boundary Line residents seeking business opportunities southBound residents coming for picnics

Belton is a town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Belton was founded by settlers in 1836 and named for John Belton, an Englishman who had come to West Texas as a trader and sheriff. In 1851, it became the county seat of Medina County. The town developed around two railroad yards that were built between 1830 and 1840 by German immigrants working on the Santa Fe Railway. The yards were later used by the Katy Railroad. The first store opened in 1851 and the first school in 1865. In 1886, Belton amalgamated with neighboring Arlington to form what is now Arlington Heights. In 1907, Arlington Heights annexed Belton and most of Garland County to form Arlington County; however, Garland County remained independent until 1959 when it merged with Denton COUNTY to form MetroDallas/Ft Worth area government. In 1957, Belton again annexed its neighbor Garland County to become Belton again; however this time there was no merge because annexation efforts conflicted over which city should have jurisdiction over which neighborhoods inside of their own city limits (the City of Arlington Heights annexing into BelTON while Garland kept its own city limits). The problem would only be solved when both cities merged - this never happened due to political differences between both cities combined into one entity known as "MetroDallas/Ft Worth" today!

Belton was founded in 1881 by John Belton and his family. The town originally consisted of only a few homes and a store. In 1902, it became the county seat for Conroe County. In 1924, the county seat moved to Belton permanently when Whitneyville (now part of Plano) was incorporated. Belton experienced growth after World War II began. A large grocery store and post office were built in 1950, followed by a housing development in 1959 that included several thousand units. The oil boom hit Belton hard during the late 1990s and 2000s, but has since revitalized the community; businesses have reopened and new residents have arrived. Today, BelTON is known for its dramatic skyline view from downtown on Mount Pleasant Hill overlooking Interstate 35W and Lake Conroe
Belton was founded in 1848 by John Belton and his wife, Martha. The town grew rapidly due to the successful cotton farming industry and became a center of commerce and culture. In 1907, the town voted to become an independent city.
