The history of weapon flashlights in Bellaire, Texas dates back to the early 1920s. At that time, the town was located in rural Williamson County and there were no streetlights. Residents relied on lanterns and torches to navigate their way around at night. One of the first weapons designed specifically for using as a flashlight was a hand-held flashlight called the “Gitmo”. The Gitmo was developed by George Gitmaijer and patented on December 2, 1923. It consisted of an oil-jointed tube with two rotating lightbulbs within it. To use the Gitmos, you had to hold it against your eye with one hand and twist the handle to turn the light on or off. One of Bellaire’s most famous citizens, Lenny Bruce, popularized this type of weapon in his comedic routines during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Bruce used a Gitmo extensively during those years when he performed at local bars and nightclubs across town. His audiences would often gather around him while he shone his Gitmo into various objects or people passing by him on thestreetlighted sidewalks. In some cases,Bruce even managed to take pictures with his Gitmos while performing!

However, during World War II both sections of town were bombed by Japanese forces; only after 1945 did he start to recover commercially and return to residential use as a city with its own distinct identity.[4][5] The economy has since shifted away from petroleum production and towards services such as retail trade,[6] health care[7], housing[8], education[9][10] and manufacturing (mainly textiles).[11][12] In recent years much development attention has been given to plans for expanding out into adjacent unincorporated areas along Buffalo Bayou which could house up to 15 million people should they ever be developed satisfactorily.[13][14][15]

Bellaire was founded in 1879 by General James Hogg and named after him. The first post office in Bellaire was established on December 12, 1879, and served as Bellaire until it was discontinued on February 14, 1910. The bell tower of St. Michaels Church located in Bellaire still tolls the time for many years afterwards as an indicator of local time. In 1896, General John J. Pershing visited the community and ordered that all cotton plantations be destroyed within five miles of Fort Worth to promote American independence from Spain. This order caused great distress to farmers in eastern Jefferson County who were dependent on cotton prices for their livelihoods and many families lost their homes and businesses because they could not afford to lose their crops. With warfare raging across Europe and America one would think that such a large change would have had a significant impact on southern Jefferson County but instead the farms slowly returned to normal with few changes taking place outside of Fort Worth during this period of social unrest which lasted into the 1920s when Texas began its own path towards statehood The Battle of San Jacinto marked one of the largest engagements ever fought between Mexican forces against settlers in Texas history with more than 600 Texans killed including 10 members of Hogg's family while he lay dying surrounded by his troops at Nacogdoches Plantation near present day Monterrey; also included were three brothers (Jared/Jeremiah Hogg/James) - Sam Houston's uncle - George Armstrong Caddy (1793-1875), Captain John Quincy Adams'JR&A aide de camp during his aborted attempt to gain recognition from Mexico as President-elect after US victory at Palo Alto Bridge;allowed Accused To Escape Verdict & life imprisonment In 1836 Bellaire currently has a plaque dedicated to them which can be found just off main street opposite St Michaels Church .
