The bell Tower can be seen from almost everywhere in and around Bellaire. It dates back to 1892 when it was built as a public school tower by J.W. Pemberton to commemorate the dedication of the first post office in Williamson County. In 1951, Belle Isle Elementary School moved from its original location on Commerce Street to its current site near Interstate 35E, just south of I-35W exit 221A. Belle IsleMiddleSchool closed in September 2009 after many years of serving students with programs including: honors English Language Arts (HELA), Science/Technology/ Math (STM), Theater Arts (TA), World Languages/ Cultures (WL/C), Technology Academy (TKD), Business Administration (BA).

Bellaire is a small town in Kerr County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,859 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Amarillo–Fort Worth–Denton metropolitan area. The Bellaire community began as a Methodist church in 1855. A post office was established in 1857 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1908. In 1895, Bellaire became an independent city under the name of Haughtonville. In 1916, Texas statehood was granted to Kerr County and Haughtonville became part of the new county seat. The city name changed again to Bellaire in 1927 when Amarillo annexed parts of Kerr County including Bellaire. In 1940, during World War II, Bellaire became home to the Army Air Forces’ First Air Force Base which served as headquarters for Ninth Air Force (later Eighth Air Force). The base closed after the war and most of its personnel were transferred to Weatherford AFB north of Amarillo. In 1970, bellaires first high school opened; it remains operational today as Kuykendall High School. In 1973-1974 bellaires played host to one weeklong summer Olympics qualifier for the 1976 Summer Olympic Games held in Los Angeles; however due to low enrollment that year both Kuykendall and Lamar Hunt High Schools were able to participate without forfeiting their bids. Since then many large-scale events have been hosted or staged at either Kuykendall or Lamar Hunt HS including: 4 NCAA sanctioned men's golf tournaments (2007-2010), WTBA Women's Basketball Tournament (2013 & 2016), 3 Big 12 sanctioned women's college basketball tournaments (2011-2015), Waco American Legion Open Field Hockey Tournament(2009 & 2013) & 5 rodeo events over 10 days each (2008-2012). On October 1st 2018 Hurricane Harvey made landfall on Corpus Christi making much news across Texas but few people knew about what happened right near our town called Bellaire where many homes were destroyed by this storm like ours did on September 25th 2017 named Arlene
Bellaire was a small town in Midland, Texas until the early 1900s. It was founded in 1881 by James A. Bell and his brother-in-law John H. White. The first post office was established in 1883, and the first store was opened in 1885. In 1907, Bellaire's population had grown to about 150 people. In 1912, the school district merged with Midland Independent School District to form Midland Consolidated School District. In 1915, Bellaire High School was built on land that had been used for cattle pastures since the 1860s. The town declined throughout the 1920s and 1930s as cotton prices collapsed and World War II began to take its toll on agriculture in Texas; by 1941, Bellaire had only 2 residents remaining. However, during World War II local industries produced war materials such as rubber boots and aircraft parts for the United States military; this led to an increase in population growth which restarted after the war ended in 1945. The postwar boom brought new development to Bellaire including a library, grocery store, post office, movie theater and several homesites developed between 1951 and 1957 by developers Earle Slesinger and Don Crump of Houston Heights fame; these developments increased population size again until it reached its peak of around 255 people in 1990 before declining steadily through 2001 due to economic hardship following 9/11 terrorist attacks which impacted Texas economy nationally
