Bellaire is a small town in Hardin County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hardin County. The first settlement in what is now Bellaire was made on December 12, 1879 by J.D. Barnes and others from McLennan County as part of the Goliad Land Grant to Colonel James Fenton. The community grew up around the post office and general store which were located on Ulysses S. Grant Boulevard in downtown Bellaire until they were moved to their present location in 1914 when they were annexed into the city of Austin. Other notable residents include Rodolphus Adair who served two terms as Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives from 1895 to 1897; Averill Harriman who played an important role in developing oil resources throughout Tx.; Edwin Ladd who started Texanside Industries; Mayor John Witherspoon (1915-1921) who led efforts to bring World War I Victory through popular demand for munitions; Alice Rawlins Harper who founded Harper's Bazaar magazine; Bob Hope whose father helped start Hope Petroleum Company; Art Rooney Sr.'s father Preston Rooney also did some early business development with energy companies such as Gulf Oil & Refining Company and Texaco Refining Company before he became NFL Commissioner (1920-1948). Today, much like then, Bellaire has seen rapid growth with new businesses popping up all over the place - some that have lasted long after leaving their initial locations while others that have quickly been replaced by more recent arrivals only recently becoming noticeable again thanks to continued revitalization efforts overseen by City Officials including current Mayor Randy Whitehurst since 2004 and currently Jeff Hagerty since 2016

A railroad was built through the town and in 1881, it became part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Railway. The town suffered during World War II when many residents left to fight in the war. In 1951, Bellaire merged with Arlington Heights to form Arlington Heights-Bellaire Township.
