He also erected a fence around his home to protect it from theft by other ranchers or robbers looking for their valuable livestock during those early days of radio communication between Bellaire and Dallas/Fort Worth (then called Southwest Texas). In 1911, Mr. Gillett donated another piece of land near Railroad Ave and US 90 to the City of Dallas as part of its urban renewal project (now known as downtown Dallas). This grant allowed city officials to develop what is now northeast corner of Elmendorf Rd./US 90 between Bissonnet Blvd./Southwest Freeway & Elmendorf Rd./US 290 into an area that would become known as “The Park” because it contained some excellent shopping opportunities for citizens living northward along Elmendorf Rd./US 290 from downtown Dallas/Fort Worth (then called Northwest Texas) including later developers who developed much larger areas within The Park over time such as Sam Rayburn Plaza & Arlington Cemetery located today just east of Interstate 476 just south of Highway 678 & North Loop 820

In 1922 Sheriff Aiken appointed Fenton Higgins as Justice of Peace and also put him into charge of police department operations; Higgins served until his death in 1935. The only fire that ever destroyed any buildings or killed anyone within Bellaire limits occurred on November 3rd 1904 when an accidental start of a small coal mine caused a wild fire that burned down eighteen acres (7 hectares) inside what is now known as "the old mill". Today remnants of this structure still stand next to I-10 just east of downtown and are open to visitors every day during daylight hours for a nominal fee (except holidays). Katharine Mayo Smith who wrote "A History Of America's Independent Towns" talked about how "this little backwater village [of] around 100 inhabitants had no connection with anything larger than itself - its citizens were farmers, fishermen and loggers." Her book goes on to say "it lacked even civic amenities such as schools or churches... [yet] it managed somehow to maintain its own spirit and identity despite being surrounded by more prosperous communities." Today much has changed since then but many aspects remain unchanged such as Katharine's description about the town's community spirit where everyone knows their neighborsname and helps out whenever needed!

Bellaire, Texas is a town in Hood County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,916 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Bellaire was founded by German immigrants in 1881 as a small farming community on the banks of the Trinity River. The name "Bellaire" comes from a French word meaning "place where sweet corn are grown." The first post office in Bellaire was established in 1883 and operated for four years. In 1886, John Matson founded the Dallas-Fort Worth Railroad here and named his new station "Matson's Station." By 1890, most of what is now Hood County had been annexed by Dallas. After annexation however, some of Bellaire's business leaders lobbied to keep their community separate from Fort Worth. They were successful and Bellaire became its own municipality with its own government and school board. In 1907, J J Cavanaugh opened his candy store here which quickly became one of Bellaires mainstay businesses. By 1922 or 1923, he had built an entire block north of Main Street called Kavanagh's Corners which served as an important retail center for local farmers and others who produced goods needed by settlers living inDallas/Forth Worth at that time. This shopping strip would later be known as hwy 4th street east
Bellaire, Texas was first settled by pioneers in 1836. The area became a part of the United States in 1845. The town was named for Colonel Robert E. Bell, an early settler in the area. In 1847, Bellaire became the capital of Hardin County, and in 1865 it became the capital of McLennan County. In 1870, McLennan County was divided into two parts and Bellaire remained within Hardin County. On January 1, 1902, Hardin County was merged with Tomball County to form Galveston County.
